According to the new DC parts on Apostates....ones who hold their own ideas but don't even try to change others thinking are termed as Anti-Christs in that they are against "the Channel". More and more radicalization of their views toward counter thinkers or quote unquote rebels. Total double tongued verbage.....lies lies...

"Those who were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses but no longer preach to others, perhaps even drifting away from association with fellow believers, are not shunned. In fact, we reach out to them and try to rekindle their spiritual interest."

Inactive ones are not "former members," they are current members, just inactive. Inactive ones are not subject to the institutionalized shunning policy as dictated by the WTBTS. If they are shunned, it would be because of a decision made by the individual(s) shunning them. (Although I'm sure gossip and peer pressure come in to play in many of these situations.)

When someone is disfellowshipped or disassociates themselves an announcement is made: "So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." At that moment in time they become a "former member" and are subsequently shunned.

The equivocating piece of propaganda quoted in the OP is an outright, bald-faced lie. Plain and simple.

    Reallity.... let's talk reality.

We have all seen it, all experienced it.

They have "the words," "the script," "the mantra," but in reality, if the WT says "jump" most will say "how high."

It's only a matter of time.

"We do not automatically disfellowship someone who commits a serious sin. If, however, a baptized Witness makes a practice of breaking the Bible’s moral code and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped. The Bible clearly states: “ Remove the wicked man from among yourselves. ”— 1 Corinthians 5:13 ."

Anyone that 'by their actions has disassociated themselves' is automatically disfellowshipped. Not sure what the JC put on the S-77 but its the same thing.

"If, however, a baptized Witness - including minor, dependent children - makes a practice of breaking the Bible’s moral code, as interpreted by anonymous men at Head Office, and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped. The Bible clearly states: “ Remove the wicked man from among yourselves. ”— 1 Corinthians 5:13 ." - it doesn't say to ignore someone though. Anyways - minor detail.

    Fixed that for them.

"we reach out to them, and try to rekindle their spiritual interest"

I suppose this provides an explanation as to why some relatives can continue to meet with relatives that have faded. When they are associating with them, they are simply rekindling their spiritual interest.

This is showing discrimination, because relatives who are DF'd can't meet, enjoy family trips, socialize, with JW family members. There is no rekindling of their spirituality.

    Unfair

    Original Question:

Do You Shun Former Members of Your Religion?

    Just ask it another way.

Do You Shun DISFELLOWSHIPPED MEMBERS of Your Religion?

The answer is , " Yes, we do." If they were proud of their beliefs then they would not resort to deceptive speech. They would, " Let their yes, mean yes." Then they could go on to explain why they feel it is appropriate to shun disfellowshipped " former " members. Being guileless and simply telling the truth does not paint an attractive picture for the ignorant public. Let's face it, JW.ORG is a commercial. You don't sell sub-standard products by being honest. Well made products sell themselves because the are good, and have great track record. You don't need to embellish the image of a proven, reliable, quality product.

STAND UP AND BE PROUD, GB!!! sHOUT IT FROM THE ROOF-TOPS!! YOU HAVE " THE TRUTH!!!!" YES!! YES!! A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!! WE SHUN FORMER MEMBERS BECAUSE IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, AND WE ARE PROUD OF IT!! WE ARE THE ONLY GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT WILL BE SAVED AT ARMAGEDDON!! ONE REASON IS BECAUSE WE FOLLOW GOD'S WORD ABOVE ANY MAN. THAT MEANS WE MUST SHUN OUR FORMER MEMBERS!! LET US SAY IT AGAIN!! WE SHUN, AND WILL CONTINUE TO SHUN!!! WE WILL NEVER STOP SHUNNING BECAUSE GOD SAYS TO DO IT!!!!!!!
