Bottom line is Apostate means accrding to the bible one who does not believe Jesus is the Messiah, period. All other deffinitions are made up to be used for purposes like the JW's use claiming thier version of apastacy. Thier version is actually Heracy but they cant use that word or they would sound to much like catholics. Paul in Phillipians said he did not care how or whom and by what motives the 'good news' was spread but just that is was. Unfortunatley the JW's miss this too spreading something else 'Gods kingdom and the name Jehovah. Like our friend Franz brought out, there are hundreds of mentionings about the good news which is christ but only 8 which refure to the kingdom. All in all the JW's just cant get much right not even the proper use of the word Apostate.
