Does The Governing Body Believe Their Own Lies? Are They Deliberate Liars? Are They Using the Common Human Trait Of Self-Deception

I agree with bluesbrother, you can believe something is true and still lie in support of your belief.

Here are some of my thoughts after reading this wikiP several times:

These guys on the Governing Body deep down in the repressed conscious know they are promoting falsehoods to support their being this Faithful and Discreet Slave malarky, they have seen facts that resonate them to a level of the repressed consciousness and informs it of the deception, but because they have to activate the mental defence mechanism of deception they force themselves to believe their bullshit because if they don't they know they will get found out by the other guys on the GB, so they all put on a show for each other in proving their loyalty to the cause and will never want any hint of doubting to surface they know they have to beleive that p is true to avoid any facial expresions or any body language to give them away, they all fear what happened to Ray Franz might happen to them.

So deep down in their heavily depressed sub conscious they know p is not true, this is causeing all kinds of their own evil to projected outwards on any kind of hook they can get their hands on including innocent members who left even old timers right at Bethel, they have repressed so much consciousness of their own evil that they are merciless in the way they treat others be it forbidding blood transfusions, or breaking up families. The Corporations survival and perpetuating the delusion that the whole Corporation was founded on has eaten their brains so bad I'm surprized some of them arn't hospitalized for insanity(joke).

I think they are well pass the dream stage of this wishful thinking endevor and now are approaching the nightmare phase where the delusion falls apart, the internet with its instant access information has sped things up and these old timers can't deal with it, their presents on the Net is pathetic and the paper business is going down, hall are being sold and the Watchtower Corporation gets all the money things are3 getting nightmarish for them. And the Pedofile Problem ain't going away anytime soon not with all this sexual repression going on among the JWs they can't even masterbate with a clean conscience.

i believe they know what they're doing, 607 is enough to wake up almost any brainwashed jdub. the question i have is why?

what do they get out of this?

riches? i don't see it. i mean...they still gotta live in bethel, it's not like they can really retire to the carribbean with a stuffed 401k or anything.

can't be the women. well it could, or could it? i was never a bethelite, but that's pretty balsy if they can pull that off in "god's kingdom on earth"

fame? pshhhhh famous to approximately 2 million cult members...i say 2 because i seriously doubt all 7 know who these people are from a hole in their rear. ok, i never did...

so what do they get except, living at bethel, with no real money, and no real wealth to blow?

Religionists have too much power. Power given by their willfully-blinded followers.

Religion can't survive for much longer. Too many people are waking up.

I beleive they have the mindset of my religion right or wrong.

They ( and that means anybody who has bought into this beleif ) simply refuse to admit they have been duped , that they have made a mistake , that they could be wrong , if I change now I will look stupid , I cant admit I was wrong. Attitudes

So they will go to any lengths to defend the indefensible , outright lie , change the definitions of words to fit their dogma , falsify their very own history to give a false impression , mis-quote sources , taking out of context what was actually stated to, give a false impression they agree with the WTB&TS

And they even alter/add to scripture to back up their claims.

    What more evidence is needed.

IMHO they must know , as Frankie says , at least on some level that they are wrong in a lot (most ) of what they say . They cherry pick to much for their quotes and twist peoples words too much to support their teachings to not know that these teachings are wrong . To be so deceptive must mean that they are aware of the shortcomings , to say the least , of their theology .

A couple of guys I knew, independently expressed the opinion, after having spent some time working in the local branch here in London (Bethel), that there was "no Holy Spirit" there. It was just a work place.

When the GB guys are appointed and reach the top of the Org. they must realise the same, whatever their level of belief before, they must realise that there "is no Holy Spirit there", so they know they are making up B.S as they go along.

They therefore know they are lying to the R&F.

It is not a Watchtower, it is a Tower of Lies.

Frankie: Here are some of my thoughts after reading this wikiP several times:

    Awesome!

Really good stuff. It's great to see you trying to get your head around this conundrum of a question. Of course, it's pure speculation, but it's a very interesting subject to consider.

And did you notice how much more discussion you're now getting from others? Longer more thoughtful responses. Nice.

Here's a line from the recent movie, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy," that I think applies (I don't know if it was in the book):

"Even the True Believer has doubts." - George Smiley

It's hard to believe that the GB members don't know they are NOT really God's representatives on earth, but I think they really believe this bullshit. That does not mean that they don't have private doubts. Likely they keep them to themselves. They are subject to peer pressure just like anyone else.

What's hard to comprehend is how they can knowingly lie to their members about so many things. There are just too many half-truths, deceptions and outright lies in WT publications for them to not know. It's clearly deliberate. The language of manipulation they use shows deliberate intent as well.

Somehow they have convinced themselves it's justified BECAUSE they really believe they are God's representatives.

“Cherish those who seek the truth but beware of those who [claim to] find it.” – Voltaire

Did you see this thread of mine? You might find it informative:

It's interesting that this religion has become like that of the Pharisees on steroids: legalistic and rule-oriented.

The heroes of the Bible--Jesus and the prophets--all spoke out against religious hypocrisy. It's more than a little ironic that we're told to imitate their faith and yet if a JW were to point out the error and hypocrisy of the WT leadership they will be summarily put to death spiritually by being disfellowshipped.

Isn't this the history of the human species- believing in imaginary things then acting out on those abstract fantasies. Talking snakes oh geez.
