Does it show a deplorable lack of faith to have a bucket list?

Keep collecting those eggs Coco and why not have a few more baskets!!

Keep dreaming those dreams (and maybe share a few with us). Life is good and it's the little things in life that arethe most enjoyable, the most fun. Make the most of every precious moment!!

    Big hugs

Good morning, LoisLane, Black Sheep and tornapart!

I enjoyed your replies -- thanks much and may you, too, continue enjoying life and, if need be, invent new things to do (no jumping off bridges!).

    Love,

    CoCo

Hi CoCo, actually I started my bucket list at age fifty because there are still places I want to see. The pyramids of Egypt; the Rockies; the Himalayas; the Andes.

Yes I like mountains! I don't think there is anything morbid about it because we need to work out how much money we need to do the things on our bucket list and that means being practical.

Those of us that have lost our partners can no longer practise denial and pretend it is not going to happen can we?

I am going to try and enjoy every year and plan what I want to do so that I don't feel regret when I am too old to do anything but sit and read. Which won't be a bad thing either because there are lots of books on my bucket list.

    CC:

I never actually made a bucket list. Most of what people put on bucket lists are places to travel to. I did a lot of traveling so I pretty much lost interest except maybe for an Alaskan cruise.

The closest I came to a bucket list was trying to contact (on Facebook, etc.) certain people from my childhood. So far, I did achieve that.

CoCo - re: your list -

What do see as a real possibility? cost, opportunity, physical ability, how motivated?

Anything on the list you can do vicariously? (I like to read accounts about explorers in dangerous situations)

Your prose, as I recall, doesn't reveal (correct me if I'm wrong) any "bucket list" longings.

Yes, a bucket list is good. I have several trips I want to take, did one of them earlier this year.

I want, for instance, to drive around California and revisit my favorite trees: the bristlecone pines (everyone should see those!), Joshua trees, a certain Morton Bay fig tree in San Diego next to the Natural History Museum, Torrey Pines to revisit pleasures of childhood, another Morton Bay fig tree in Santa Barbara, an oak preserve on highway 1 north of SB, Monterey Pines and Point Lobos, and of course the coastal Redwoods north of San Francisco all the way to the Oregon border. Anyone want to go with me?

That's the most feasible trip on my bucket list. I have a couple of other trips in mind, but for them I'd have to write another damn book and sell it, and currently I am enjoying a feast of laziness. Not really lazy, foraging around Mount Shasta and doing lots of canning. Moving to Mount Shasta was the first goal of my bucket list when I realized I'd better get a move on if I wanted to enjoy it before I'm too old.

I realize I'm rambling. So, Coco, whatever you have a hankering to do, find out some way to do it!

Damn, I still like my avatar. Four eyes, a sweet little piggy nose, great hair and spare appendages. Yep, it looks just like me!

Thanks, Friends, for all the great replies!

I'm doing what I want and am grateful to be able to do so after some health scares.

You're adorable, Hortensia, and no kicking the bucket yet, Grace!!!

This thread was intended as somewhat tongue-in-cheek; every deviation from prescribed JW thinking and action is, naturally, verboten. Just like the sister who gave up her beloved and profitable daycare business because she 'loved it too much.'

    With gratitude,
