So are Republicans now openly terrorists?

The bill was passed in the senate 219–212.

That would have been an interesting trick since there are only 100 Senators.

As to what the electorate voted for: The current makeup of the House of Representatives also represents the electorate, just at the local level rather than the entire country. There is considerable opposition to the ACA in various parts of the country.

I agree with tootired, just let the dems own it. If its the mess the Republicans think its going to be, the Democrats can clean it up.

But the republican party don't respect the electorate - they want to enforce their outdated minority views on others. This is why they are becoming less and less electable - they gave in to the quick-and-easy votes by selling their soul to the Tea Party, just as they did with the religious right before that.

They like to boast about how wonderful the peaceful transference of power is, and yet they refuse to accept it. They claim to love America, and yet they seem to hate everything that America stands for.

So it is the House of Representatives acting up, is it? Voters will have a chance to express their displeasure a year from now. Unless they blame Obama for not controlling their elected representatives.

ADCMS: "The electorate didn't want Obamacare but it was passed anyway."

Para: Facts seem to disprove your comment

ADCMS: Oh, voters always get what they want and politicians never do anything the public opposes? How silly of me to think otherwise.

It wouldn't be Obamas job, it would be the Speaker of the House John Boehner.

As for the House, Democrats actually recieved more votes, but through gerrymandered districts the GOP took seats.

People seem to prefer the Affordable Care Act over Obamacare, imagine that. If they are questioned on the individual components, they have an even higher approval. There has been so much disinformation spewed by the Republicans and their various talking heads, people have no idea what to think, other than to be afraid.

If the Republicans really thought it was going to be so bad, they wouldn't be trying to stop it. Even Ted Cruz called it "sugar" and pointed out that if they don't stop it now (before it goes into effect), they won't have another chance because people will like it.

so this is reasonable because nobody, apparently, want obamacare?

    bullshit.

Imagine if the democrats had insisted on not passing the national budget in 2007 unless the iraq war, which was very unpopular at the time, was defunded.

Yes, in the vast open plains where no one lives, GOP HQ and Tea Party trailer parks.

In the places where there is that thing we call 'a substantial population' there is less 'considerable opposition'.

You lost, get over it, stop trying to burn the house down because you didn't get your choice of paint.

That's not what he said, you're taking it out of context. Here's the news quote:

"He said that is precisely President Obama’s goal.

“His strategy is to get as many Americans as possible hooked on the subsidies, addicted to the sugar,” Cruz told a Kingwood Tea Party gathering. “If we get to Jan. 1, this thing is here forever.”

He is right. The point he's making is that, once people get "hooked" on government handouts it's almost impossible to take those handouts away, no matter how much sense it makes to do so. Politicians are hooked on "pork barrel" projects, another classic example of taking money/benefits as long as it's free to them while someone else pays the bill.
