the term "generation" is only ever applied in a general context. A general period of time or a general group of people as Yadda Yaddo showed.
The WTS applies the term to both time (very broadly) AND people (very spefically).
I am not a linguistics scholar but to me, grammatically, their application breaks many grammatical rules which at the very least shows what a STRETCH one has to make in order for this interpretation to make any sense.
I have said all along that the 1914 generation has come full circle with no need for a Reasoning Book reprint, we just now read into the word generation the WTS's new eisogetic definition.
So long as the J-dubs can swallow the "overlapping generations" lie, they will be happy to brag about the generation of 1914 again. "how exciting!!"
I just wish the GB had just said back in 1995 - "hey, we know we always said 'one generation', but since they are all dead it MUST be two generations. So from now on instead of expecting the new system in 70-80 years, it might take as long as 140 - 160 years. Sorry for the confusion"
This would have eliminated the need for the 18 years long song and dance that just occured

The Watchtower has substituted the meaning of the word POPULATION for the word GENERATION.
"This POPULATION will not pass away...."
Additionally, the population is considered over an interval of time, not a specific instant in time.

On Bloomberg they showed three generations of Warren Buffett's family, Warren Buffett, his son, and his son, involved in writing a book on the philantropy side of their business. I estimate about a thirty year difference between them. So, according to WT teaching, it's not three generations, but one generation with three overlaps. If you believe that, you'll believe anything. Or, they have added a new meaning to the dictionary definition of generation, and should inform Webster, Wikipaedia, et al of this extraordinary development.

Hi Vid; I made that point to 2 witnesses that showed up at my door. Jesus' understanding of a generation in it's first fulfillment was 37 yrs. from 33 until 70.
Long enough for those who heard the warning to benefit from it. Evidently, the GB doesn't consider Jesus' understanding of a generation as correct. Maybe
they should kick him out for "running ahead". He can always join us.

What major doctrine by the WTS. hasn't been a bold face lie ? There are too many to count !
Its a religious publishing house so its internally avowed to present and propagated lies to make their products more
attractive and appealing to the public.
That is "The Truth"
All on the premise that Jehovah has their set about approval of course.
That in itself is the big fear induced hooking point for this organization and this organization uses it constantly to coerce and subdue people .

The "over-lapping generation" (two groups) was my doctrinal tipping point. My first thought upon hearing it from the stage was, "That's Crap!" I walked away a year later. May there be many more to follow!
