I always wondered how jehovah can remain an Elder when 1/3 or what percentage went wrong and left the truth, worse, did the transgender, materializing thing.

i personally believe that a man should stand on his own and not be assessed by his family members. we are all individuals - and it is a very unfair position to have a kid who isn't allowed to be a kid and do kid things because it might alter views of his/her parents? i know from life experience that as a child of an elder (long ago, granted) there were things i was not allowed to do specifically because if i were to do them, a couple other bigshots were going to dethrone my father - they wanted to dethrone him anyway, and eventually did - but why make his kid the scapegoat? if he hadn't have been an elder they would have had no problem with my doing what i wanted to do - it never was a totally radical sinful thing, anyway - just normal teenage stuff. they ruin lives.

then everyone would have felt better i think.

My father was an elder when i was a teen.

A while ago i had a discussion with him about his views on the elder body in the local congregation. i remember how he was.

(It was more of a blazing row with me almost dying of a heart attack, i had a lot of chest pain afterward, i'm exaggerating about the heart attack)

ucantnome - the love of the stage - the need to be looked up to - no - he was a very frustrated man - highly intelligent, and had great teaching abilities - and his only outlet was the KH. he did eventually "step down", but the reality was he was forced to - backed into a corner. he was an alchie.

James, good post. It's true, the elder bodies in the WTBTS are full of nit pickers. They behave just like chickens that peck to death the weaker chickens. Chicks will do this to other chicks. Witnesses grow up in a judgemental environment and only know this way of dealing with others. Somehow the Biblical teachings of love and compassion are never learned.
