    Hortenzie,

You make a good point. I think you will be fine when they call round. You are well prepared. I am sorry for what you had to suffer for 15yrs in this damaging CULT. I am glad you have fuond a way to get some happiness the next time they call.

    Good for you

JWs are just ordinary people who are just ignorant about what their involved in.

I usually just tactfully suggest for them to read information about where and who started this publishing organization (C T Russell).

because thats the real reason they are calling on people's doors (Literature circulation).

Its too easy to show how stupid they are, so a little tactful insight ( new light ) goes a long way to opening people's eyes.

Finkelstein, you are wrong. Ignorance is a choice and in this "Information age" it is not even an excuse, any longer. And you well know, they won't read any information you point them to...

Why do you, guys, think that is OK for them to rob me of 15 years of my life and make me loose my faith in God, and it is disrespectful for me to show them what I think about their lies?

If the person at your door who gives you the tract was personally responsible for your 15 lost years, I'd tend to agree with you.

Odds are, it's just some poor kid who doesn't want to be there, or someone who'd rather be fishing or baking cookies or whatever.

Your actions will merely upset him / her personally, or possibly even reinforce the idea that he / she is "in the truth" becasue of the "persecution" you are giving them.

Your anger is misplaced. The schmuck at the door didn't rob you of 15 years of life.

Sir82, did you forget that it is JW who teach that if you are a part of an organization, you are personally responsible for its actions (that's why they don't join any org. except teirs)? Whoever perpetuate a lie IS a lier, as well. I am not angry, I take responsability for my choices, too. And all I want to show by this action is that I don't believe their lies.

That's just what I was thinking. I was that kid. My Dad used to turn off the TV news and neither of my parents read newspapers. I didn't know anything about the world.

You may think with the internet there is no excuse for ignorance now but you are forgetting the thought police. If I was sitting in the KH now I would be that kid who is guilted into not looking at apostate sites in case I upset Jehovah blah blah blah.

Think of the kids, Hortenzie, they need help to get out of this cult. Don't see people as groups, that was my mistake for years after leaving the JWs. They teach you to see people en masse but people are individuals, we are all so different.

What do you have with the "kids"? First of all, I never had "kids" coming to my door (an elderly couple, 2 older pioneer sisters, and an elder and his pioneer wife). And of course, I adjust my "presentation" to the "needs" of the audience :)

Hi Hortenzie, Why not tell them I have something for you too and write www.jwfact.com, www.jwsurvey.org, www.freeminds2.org, or www.freeedomofmind.com on the tract?

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

I pioneered and my husband was an elder. I didn't get out until I was 30. I'm talking about born-ins.

I'll check out the sites and think about your suggestion, thanks Robert.
