Hortenzie...if you came into the JW organization 15 years ago. Why didn't you look this information up? this explains why it's disrespectful...you bought into it.

This is your statement: Ignorance is a choice and in this "Information age" it is not even an excuse, any longer.

But I ultimately think you shouldn't give out anything you don't want in return. If you want people to dismiss your thoughts or your journey with anger...then rip up the literature. But if you want compassion and understanding of your current journey. You can refuse to take the literature and give your reason. Or take the literature and give them a take away (or plant a seed).

Anytime a JW speak with me...I always tell them to look up their religions history. If it's a young person...I tell them when i was 17 years old...I was told not to pursue education because the end was so near...then I let them know, I'm now a Grandmother. To not waste their life for an end times organization.

redvip2000 - I hate sentences that start "What if..." and continue with an unprobable scenario. It's reminds me of JW's far fetched illustrations. So, no, I don't see your point.

    Hi Hortenzie,

Rip up the tract if you want to, pooh to the naysayers. It is garbage, why not say so to their faces?

They'll just love it -- "persecution!"

A friend of mine tells them, "you can take that shit and get OFF my porch right now."

It takes something happening inside them to get them to wake up, something you most likely can't trigger when they're at your door anyway.

Next JW that comes to my door gets a free roll of toilet paper to whipe their ass....

Powerful1 - now you are just assuming, and jumping to conclusions. I left sometime ago. In my time Internet was Devil's tool not WT's friend... I guess, the light got brighter since then.

Hortenzie, if you write the website address on it, it accomplishes the same thing. Only in a more respectful, and thoughtful kind of way.

    nonjwspouse - I thought that's what I just said...

This feels like being naked in a hornet nest (I thought I find more understanding) and a highway to nowhere (talking in circles) so I'll better go and do something useful... like wash my dishes or take the garbage out.

haha yes hortenzie you did. we are talking in circles now. I was trying to answer your question in an obviously "outdated" by now post. So nevermind

Little light cleaning and even my mind is refreshed.

After thinking much about the issue I'm back to my original plan. I will rip the tract but with an explanation. I will tell them that I have nothing against them personally, but I don't want the tract, and the reason for ripping it up is to protect the next person from their unprovable information and false promises, of course, as a purely symbolic gesture. I will emphasize that coming to people's door and make promises they cannot keep and make statements they cannot prove is unhelpful and unkind.
