That's why it easier not to believe in the bible. Do I believe in something? Yes but to say it's the god of the bible, that would be a big fat no! there have been books written with the same type of stories as the bible. Do research. After 25 years as a witness, I believe for myself that there is energy and we are all a part if it. And we merge. Am I happy that I believe this way? for sure. After all the bible gas started so many wars!! In the name of religion. I was catching a you tube video, one of my fav peeps, talking about how the society tells the cong. Not to watch violence, porn, movies that are blood guts etc. but hey just read the bible. !! Really. nuff said!!
Born Again Christians and JWs should look at the bigger picture and stop fighting with each other.

Cofty, As a "born-again", the only thing that I am required to believe in is that I am saved through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. As a result of this salvation, I am compelled on my own (when I wasn't before) to share this experience with others. I am not forced by any group to do so, nor am I condemned by any group if I don't. I am free to worship with anyone I choose, and I am free to leave any group I choose. I have no fear of entering a Kingdom Hall or any other different style of "worship". I have freedom that members of cults do not have. I am sorry that you believe otherwise.

Saved from what exactly?
Would a christian who accepts the bible is a purely human work, who rejects the trinity, who sees reports of miracles as superstitions, who promotes evolution and rejects any notion of a fall from human perfection experience any pressure to change their views at your church or house-group?

Yeah, I agree that all Bible groups should look at the bigger picture and stop all the fighting. However, I don't think you will find them coming to a concensus on doctrines. Born agains will never accept the WT view of Jesus or the Mormon views of God and witnesses will not accept the idea of a Trinity of Hellfire.
For example, I see ex witnesses come on this board and say, "The Watchtower got one thing right, God is not a Trinity!" They are just simply still under the influence of the WT even if they denounce them otherwise. An objective conclusion of that teaching, in my personal opinion, is that Bible verses can be plucked and interpreted to support both views and adhering to one over the other is just plain dogma.

In Christ Alone- The difficulty with your position is that it requires a literal belief in Adam and Eve. Fundamentalists and Evangelicals, SDA, and the JWs all have to come to grips with the artifacts showing humans predated the Biblical Adam and Eve by thousnads of years.

I do agree with the O.P that these arguments between equally ridiculous believers are a waste of time. The problem is, they love it !
They would not like life if they were able to see the bigger picture, they like the fuzzy warm feeling that they, and a few who are as deluded as them, will be "saved", and all those of us who are non-theists are damned.

since you can't even agree on what born again really means, this is a moot point.
btw, also JWs believe they are saved through the shed blood of JC.

To me, a cult refers to the way a group manipulates and uses its members, not the specific belief system. Some cults have nothing to do with religion. If there is a leader or group of leaders that purports to be the only path to salvation (or wealth, knowledge, etc), if members are discouraged from reading non approved materials, their time is controlled, if they cannot freely associate with non believers, then it's a cult.
Christian fundamentalism of itself is not a cult to me, although I am sure there are groups within that umbrella that are cults.

designs: I disagree with your statement. While I believe that the Bible is true and that science is true, I will readily admit that I don't grasp how the two go hand in hand at times. I don't hold dogmatically to any understanding or interpretation I have concerning many things in the Bible. I question people who don't take both sides into account.
J. Hofer - You may be right. What I consider to be a "born-again" and what JW's consider to be a "born-again" undoubtedly differ. How do JW's believe that they are saved by the shed blood of JC? All of the quotes I see regarding their salvation points to the organization.
