They are all a bunch of two-bit window washers playing God. Just from this moment ignore them totally. What waste even a minute more thinking about those morons?? Don't give them one more word for or against their silly nonsense. Whatever pathetic 'authority' they THINK they have is only because you AGREE for them to have it. So withdraw your agreement. Problem solved!!!

It's easy to dismiss the elder's authority, chalking it up as having no legitimacy. While that may be true, when analyzed from a certain angle, it's no less true that in practical terms they have the power in their hands to cut you off from your family and friends, which, when you haven't got a network of family and friends outside the congregation, may be really hard to handle. So I must thread very carefully, and if I can get away with only loosing my "privileges" (gawd, I hate that expression), then I'd say the outcome isn't all bad. At least it buys me time to figure out how I can help my family.
Also, Phizzy is absolutely right. You DO have to have the mindset of someone living in North Korea, where you can get executed for giving a half-hearted clapping to the speeches of the 'great leader'.

Well, at least you don't have to do those burdens again! Every door that closes, a window is opened.

Hope this doesn't get too rough for you. Originally, I relayed thoughts and many questions to two JW's. One is out (faded) and the other said something to my parents and has caused strained relations, to say the least. Can you ignore phone, texts, visits at your door? I ignored texts from elders and haven't been bothered in 6 months.

Ok, time for an update.
My resignation is official now. I lost my "privileges" as MS, have a limited participation in the theocratic school, but I was allowed to retain everything else.
I guess my "quirkiness" is being tolerated for the time being, as long as I don't attempt to spread my ideas in the congregation. My wife now agrees with me in my views about the "organization" (we both agree it is seriously flawed, and not compliant with the holy spirit; it's unecessary for salvation, athough has a degree of usefulness), although doesn't share my views on hope.
Anyway, not a bad outcome, I'd say. I know I will have eyes on me from now on, but I'll keep a low profile in the congregation.

That is wonderful news, I hope that remaining still in will not send you out of your mind. Some opinionated brothers don't do well staying in, they can't seem to keep their mouths shut, it's all too frustrating. But all the best with your future plans now you and your wife are pretty much on the same page.

Kate, time will tell how long will I be able to withstand with it.
I've come to realize just to what extent many of the Elders are truly 'worshippers of the organization', in the sense that, no matter what the WT does or writes, the errors, the false prohecies blunders, the contradictions with the Bible ... it's all under the permission and blessing of Jehovah, and we do best to obey and heed to it all, without questioning. It's mind-blowing, really. My wife is shocked with it and now when something is said from the platform that we both find hilarious, we just eye each other and pinch each other's hands...it's a good sport, actually. :P
