God is indifferent to human suffering and I can only say it's because he is anthropomorphic.

I don't understand that sentence. I understand all the words but not when you put them in that particular order. Please elaborate.

cofty I know you have got a shed load of red pills you want to feed me, but I have a supply of blue ones for now. I am in la la la land comfy and fuzzy.

God isn't human so God doesn't care about anyone or animals like I do. That makes me angry, but it doesn't stop me praying to him/her/it about it or stop having faith the God is the creator of natural laws that govern life. Ahh here is another blue comfy pill, I believe because its warm believing cofty. Kate xx

Why pray to a indifferent being?

How is there any comfort in this?

Why pray to a indifferent being?-cofty

Thanks for a red pill cofty, I was happy with the blue one, but you just neutralised it! I suppose I need to realise sooner rather than later I am talking to myself. My family don't want prayers anymore.

Sometimes thinking things over to God can make me feel better, like a way to staighten my thoughts, getting my idea's into order. Sometimes I am angry and want to let off steam.

2 answers cofty. I have CD clearly. Ahh well I am only new to TTATT, it's not the end of the world is it? Kate xx

Kate said- As a believer I would answer that, the bible was written by men to control women, children and the vulnerable. When we look at the complexity of science in the natural laws of the universe, I think of an intelligent creator.

And what are these "natural laws" you speak of, as if they exist? Did you miss my posts yesterday, where I explained how the term is actually a misnomer, since "natural laws" don't exist, as it's only a metaphor? It's a PERFECT example of the tendency towards anthropomorphism, projecting human thinking and logic onto non-living matter.

Kate said- As for the suffering, well that is a question I am looking for answers to. God is indifferent to human suffering and I can only say it's because he is anthropomorphic. But I am anoyed with God, and not really satisfied with that answer.

For the umpteenth time, God is not anthropomorphic: HUMANS anthropomorphize non-human beings (real or fictional, including God), bestowing them with OUR human traits. Cofty is pointing out how the TARGET of anthropomorphisim cannot BE anthropomorphic: to say it only demonstrates one's misunderstanding of the word.

Do you finally understand that now, Kate, or are you simply going to continue to ignore the explanation, and just continue to make up crapola definitions in your own mind that seems right to you, but actually fly in the face of accepted usage (which have been used long before you or I or Cofty were born)?

Jesus give me answer for the existence of evil. And He spoke with me when I studied the chemistry of atoms. The perfect design and the interaction of particles proves to me God have no connection with evil. When I see the wonders of quantum reality I know evil does not exist, because God have a Master Plan for all of us. Someday God will erase all memories we have about evil and will distort time and space where bad things happened and no evil will reach our hearts. God will erase evil from every spacetime intersection of this universe. There's a prophecy about that in revelation book. But one must have faith in The Blood.

Great OP. And you state a very clear and rational argument as to the unlikelihood of the existence of a god/gods. James Jackson and Kate, I am working on both of your official atheist certificates. Kate wants a pink border around her certificate; James, which color do you wish for yours? Resistance is futile; you will be assimilated (unless you completely stop thinking and return to the cave from which you have escaped).

So Kate, you discount the bible because you feel it was written to control. I would agree; some of that control was probably very necessary to hammer out a civilization beyond the cave, tribe and clan, just as laws are necessary for social order (but lawyers, those desiring to oppressivel or needlessly to control others take law making to the extreme). Some of it was not. That's men for you. It will likely always be such, at least until we quit relying on imaginary creatures to make us behave and begin improving our DNA, which has great capacity for improving our pathetic human condition. But we won't get there until we truly believe we are big enough, strong enough and doggonit people like us and stop relying on a variety of imaginary creatures.

    Again, excellent OP and discussions.

John mann ?????? Are you for real. Kate wild you seem to be clinging on to your belief in god like a person clings on to disintegrating raft in a stormy ocean . I fear as it totally breaks up you will have difficult decision to make. How close are you to that. Many of us have been at the same crossroads

John Mann and Aquafrenta, you and the Reverend need your own little corner of self delusion to play in on this forum. I call a god who would create moral agents, supposedly in his image, and then provide them NO real direction or guidance for 100,000 years, wreckless and uncaring. If Cofty wishes to call him a moral monster, I'm ok with that. Potato potahto.
