And where did this concept of the fetus deserving a right to live come from, anyway? It SURE isn't found in the Bible....

As far as Erick keeping his dick out of his wife while trying to conceive another child with his wife (!), I'm sure JPS also refuses to treat skiers who broke their legs on the slopes, or car accident victims, telling them "you knew the dangers of skiing or automobiles, you knew the risk!" They'd probably refuse to treat them, if not for that pesky Hippocratic Oath and the State forcing them to treat sinners!

Since YES, I can see why Xians would believe it's entirely reasonable to tell married people to forego sex, just in case the unforeseen pulmonary embolism occurred, since after all, doesn't Jesus advise Xians that some people are better off as sexless eunechs since not everyone is cut out for marriage, since they should "put Kingdom interests first"?

This is easily one of the most idiotic fucking things I've read on this website in the several years that I've been coming here. You really should be embarrassed for simply being too stupid to form a cogent thought. You make me want to shake my head. Oh well, I guess abortion wasn't your mother's thing. Pity.

Justitia I read the paper you claim to have written. Very interesting stuff. I especially like how you (I'll just assume you're telling the truth) and your colleagues point out that...

"Obedience to the DDR has induced policymakers to include
andmaintain irreversible loss of brain function as a legal criterion
for declaring death despite controversies and some
evidence that these individuals do not fulfil any definition
    of death."

"We believe that justifying the procurement of vital
organs from severely injured patients on an explicit moral
basis, instead of supporting it on the pseudo-objective
claim that “they are really dead,” is an honest way to
acknowledge the unavoidable uncertainty of the vital
    status of so-called “brain-dead” and “circulatory-dead”
    donors."

Great, so you've mastered ad hominems. Are you done?

Now, how about offering us a cogent reason-based argument explaining HOW you arrived at your conclusion that fetus' rights outweigh the interests of humans?

Hell, you get to take ANY angle you want, whether from the angle of Biblical/theological/moral (either OT/Judaism or NT/Christian), biology-based, medicolegal, ethical, philosophical, etc.

Adamah, the idiocy in what Sooner was replying too was self evident, your self appointed role of fallacy police (while making many of those fallacies yourself) not withstanding.

Viviane: If you have an argument present, do so, but please exercise self-restraint and refrain from trolling with ad hominems in this thread.

Adamah, I didn't make any logical fallacy, you're accusing me of doing so is just a strawman fallacy. There you go making those logical fallacies again. If you need additional help keeping your thread on topic and fallacy-free, I suggest you have someone proof-read your posts to make sure they are error-free.

In any event, the state of Texas prizes personal freedom in name only, yet restricts it frequently because Jesus. Some of the legislators there are hypocrites to the highest degree. They accuse others of the very same thing they do.

while you all are busy trashing Texas , there are a number of other states that have the same ( or similar) laws. I believe I read around 32 other states , same laws. Texas is doing the best they can, this is not an easy situation. Hopefully it will go before the higher courts. I don't see Comrade Obama telling Texas what to do.

I love this state with all its warts. We really do mean, " don't mess with Texas". Love it.

No state Taxes-- all you guys in NYC who are going to be taxed out the wazu to spread the wealth ( congrats on lol new mayor)

So you're getting the point, FHN, as it's NOT an abortion issue, but an issue of whether or not individuals have the right to determine what happens to their own bodies, while alive and after death. She didn't leave her wishes in writing, but it wouldn't have done ANY GOOD anyway, since the State law overrides. Her husband is next-of-kin, and has the right to make healthcare decisions, but once again, State law overrides, and JPS is seemingly misinterpreting the law, as described by Dr Fine above.

I got the point that this has nothing to do with abortion from the time I heard about it. That's why when people act like this is a religious issue, it just doesn't make sense.

I was thinking about something today. It would make more sense to me for an atheist to want to protect the sanctity of the life of the unborn, than a theist. If you believe this is your only chance at life, no heaven, not reincarnation, no after life of any kind, then it becomes a much bigger loss if your mother chooses to end her pregnancy and your only chance to live outside her womb. For those of us who don't believe that this is your only life. For those of us who don't believe an unborn loses any chance to live outside, if the pregnancy ends, it's not a finite issue.

"Don't mess with Texas" is a phrase the state came up with about littering. Texas, for all their bluster, shuts up and takes it just like every other state.

And bear in mind when I say that, I've spent months and months in Texas and know a ton of people from there, I'm not talking from ignorance.
