Here are some highlights from the magazine.
The first article, "Imitate the Faith of Moses", teaches how Moses didn't remain in Pharohs court, they then skillfully spin getting a decent paying job and career as equaling "enjoyment of sin", and how those who have "enjoyment of sin" will die at armageddon with everyone else who enjoys their job.
Here are some quotes from the article...
" When tempted to engage in sinful conduct, ask, ‘What future do I want for myself?.... If you are a young servant of Jehovah, how can faith help you to choose a career? You are wise if you plan for the future. But will faith in God’s promises move you to store up for a temporary future or an everlasting one? (Read Matthew 6:19-21.) That question faced a talented ballet dancer named Sophie. She was offered scholarships and coveted positions at ballet companies across the United States. "It was th rilling to be adored. In fact, I felt superior to my peers,” she admits. “But I was unhappy.” Then Sophie watched the video Young People Ask—What Will I Do With My Life? “I realized that the world had given me success and the adoration of fans in exchange for my wholehearted worship of Jehovah,” she says. “I prayed fervently to him. Then I quit my dancing career.” How does she feel about her decision? “I don’t miss my old life. Today, I am 100 percent happy. I pioneer with my husband . We’re not famous, and we have very little materially. But we have Jehovah, Bible students, and spiritual goals.
(Well Good for you Sofie, you were unhappy having scholarships and opportunities in something you loved to do all across the nation. So you quit all of that, can barely pay the bills, and now you are happy! )
We likewise have a commission..... All of us have the privilege of declaring the good news. ( Matt. 24:14; 28:19, 20 ) Some serve as full-time ministers. Mature baptized brothers serve others in the congregation as ministerial servants and elders. However, your unbelieving family and others may question the value of these privileges or even reproach you for your self-sacrifice. ( Matt. 10:34-37 ) If they succeed in discouraging you, you could begin to wonder whether your sacrifices are worthwhile or if you can really carry out your assignment.
Although we have not yet received our reward, our faith is so strong that we keep on waiting patiently for “the payment of the reward.” Like Moses, we do not view any years in Jehovah’s (obeying the GB) service as wasted time.
I LOVE this next quote, from teh next article, "Do you see the one who is invisible"... " We are convinced that “the hour of judgment” has, indeed, arrived. We also have faith that Jehovah (the GB) has not exaggerated the urgency of our preaching and disciple-making work." By faith, do you see those angels poised to release the destructive winds of the great tribulation on this world? If you see those angels with your eyes of faith, you will be able to share the good news with confidence.
In the "No One Can Slave for Two Masters", it goes through horrible stories of families having no money and a spouse or parent moving to another country to pay the bills. Or of a couple sending their children to grandparents to raise them since they can't afford to care for them. Then the article brings out how seeking 'riches' ends in those bad situations. So I guess paying the bills and supporting ones family is seeking greedy riches. In their examples, the spouses/parents returned, yet there was no indication of any blessings or changes in their situation. Then it concludes how just doing service and trusting in God will take care of it all. I couldn't help but wonder, since they claimed they were doing those things in the start, how did that happen to them to begin with???
Quotes in the next article about how to get financial help or what those in bad situations should do include....." Jehovah knows that we need some money.....The apostle Paul directed that when older Christians cannot make ends meet, their children and grandchildren should “repay their parents and grandparents what is due them... We should not constantly be striving for a higher standard of living or for future financial security. The wise course is to avoid going into debt in the first place. "
(WHAT THE HECK IS THAT CRAP!!!!! So people should NOT strive for future financial security aka retirement. Yet children should take care of their older parents because they didn't plan for future, and they themselves shouldn't plan for future. And they shouldn't have gone into debt in the first place. )
Now the final article, the real treat...."Do you appreciate Jehovah's Watchful care" aka the gb and elders up your butt
"For instance, you may be hurt by a remark that you consider to be unkind. ‘This should not happen in God’s organization!’ you exclaim. Yet, the brother who made the remark receives privileges in the congregation and seems to be well-thought-of by others. ‘How can this be?’ you wonder..Jehovah may have valid reasons for not stepping in.... you may be more at fault than you realize. The comment that you considered to be so hurtful may, in fact, have been well-deserved counsel"
And at our congregation meetings, all of us receive counsel that comes at just the right time!
S(So as we can see in the last paragraph, whenever elders do wrong and are able to remain elders, it's becaue it was well deserved what they did to you!)
So that last article was a nice finish to accept the counsel to not get higher education, not get a career/job that can safely support your family, and not to plan for retirement but have your children pay for your bills when you don't have enough to retire (and they as well can't plan for retirement when they are working).
