I did give pan handlers some money in the past and a couple of times I saw them walk themselves right into a bar.
One actually stood in front of a 7-11 convenience store, I gave him I think a dollar, shortly there after I noticed he
walked out with a bottle of Scope month wash in his hand.
He purchased not to freshen up but to drink it and drunk off the containing alcohol.

Boy did I feel stupid .
I don't give money. I ask if they would like some food, they always say 'yes', and I give them a nice oatmeal bar which I usually carry with me. They smile with a beautiful smile and say 'God bless'. And I feel happy the rest of the day
On the other hand, when I was a JW I never gave anything. I was told that they are all drug users and giving them anything is equal to supporting their bad habit
