Bring out the Bodie sis an easier read than the first book 'Wolf Hall' which was hard going initially but enjoyable once I got into it and understood who everyone was. Being familiar with the history of England at the time of Henry VIII and the main personalities would be an advantage. It shows how history can be influenced in a major way by domestic matters, in this case the failure of Henry's wives to bear him a son.

P.S. I am also bored with the Theist v Atheist debate even though I am a confirmed atheist. I don't see the point of trying to convince a Theist that I am right and they are wrong particualrly given that I have failed to convince my wife that the WBTS are manipulative, misleading and deceptive even though I think it is as obvious as the nose on my face.

I'm at work today, but it's a tad slow so I'm checking email and jwnet :)

One of my girlfriends visited for the weekend and we had thought provoking conversations, some gorgeous beach time, great food and chick flicks. We managed to do this all while having her grandmother, who has demetia, with us. For me, it is an uplifting, refreshing time to entertain and talk with nonrelgious people right now.

edit - I did post on Simon's recipe thread - love the idea.

Thanks for explaining that DoC, have a great time.

Frazzled, yes how much of history's big events were down to the domestic affairs of monarchs and their families. Especially as European royals seemed to intermarry right accross Europe.

Gypsy Sam glad you had a good time with your girlfriend. Beach, good food and movies, great.

Anyone else like to tell me about something they like to do that I probably don't know anything about? There's a lot to choose from believe me

As I jsut noted on another thread - I think all ex or exiting Witnesses should watch The Lives of Others about an East German Stasi agent. It was made in 2006 and should be generally available on DVD - it is an excellent movie and particularly pertinent! Just think of the Stasi operatives as elders!

People are doing such interesting things, I had no idea. Restoring antique furniture and making a living from it. Making their own bread, yoghurt and mozzarella, I am very impressed. Others are reading history and science. Many are having fun and meals with friends and family. It's been really interesting, thanks everyone.

I'm a bit tired from helping with my friends annual Super Bowl party!! It was the best party yet! 5 tv's, bounce house, pool&hot tub with life guard to entertain the little ones. While the teens had fun in the photo both taking silly pictures!!

The game was quite boring but all the food, drinks and entertainment made up for it! We also enjoyed watching Buno Mars during half time!! that young man can move!
