Never Fear! That's only written on paper work, the hardest part of being a JW Elder is bluffing the Circuit Overseer but that problem is eliminated by sharing some "green-backs", "Ben Franklin handshakes", so don't be worried!

This material is nothing new, we were screamed at, cried to and begged to make sure sheep did not walk out the door and disappear, it never worked! If you have men with bad hearts who don't care about the sheep, your not going to change the congregation's modus operandi. You can still fade knowing the odds are in your favor nobody is going to check up on you or your wife! Tell them you are feeling depressed, it's a sure-fire way of keeping everyone but the kind weak-JWs from visiting you.

Almost everyone on JWN can atttest that eventually they will forget and focus on Albert the Alcoholic, Burned-Out-Bob, Cat-Lady Connie and a pletheroa of other disfuntional individuals the friends can count time for!

I am just not sure that the GB really understands how stressful it is to serve as an elder and hold down a full time job and handle everything else, especially if an elder is a family man.

This is why the WT should just pay a selected few to be the minister and a deacon or two and be done with it. The elder arrangement is flawed fro the outset. Ephesians 4:11 clearly says that only some would fill certain roles. Nowhere in the bible that I know of prevents a paid clergy class...does it?

    ---

True, but if WT had a paid clergy they'd lose one of their most cherished bragging points...and be 'just like Christendom'.

    .

WT's approach has nothing to do with logic, efficacy or common sense...it's about being different, nothing more.

Certain disfellowshipped persons get an annual visit?

    What's a certain disfellowshipped person?

I would have thought that means persons disfellowshipped for transgressions less than full on unrepentant apostasy like the good folks on here.

Here the WTS explains who "certain" might be:

    *** w96 11/1 p. 16 par. 12 Sharing the Comfort That Jehovah Provides ***

Once a year two elders may visit certain disfellowshipped ones. These may no longer show a rebellious attitude or be engaged in gross sin and may need help to take the necessary steps to get reinstated.

    *** w03 10/1 p. 22 Appreciating the Purpose of Discipline ***

From time to time, elders endeavor to visit disfellowshipped individuals who are not actively engaged in wrongdoing. During such visits, elders act in harmony with the real purpose of discipline by outlining the steps needed for a person to return to the Christian congregation.

    *** w91 4/15 p. 23 pars. 13-15 Imitate God’s Mercy Today ***

In recent times there have been cases in which an elder happened to meet a disfellowshipped person. Where appropriate, the shepherd briefly outlined the steps to be taken for reinstatement. Some persons like this repented and were reinstated. Such joyful outcomes indicate that there may be disfellowshipped or disassociated ones who would respond to a merciful approach made by the shepherds. But how might the elders handle this matter? Once a year at most, the body of elders should consider whether there are such persons living in their territory. The elders would focus on those who have been expelled for over a year. According to the circumstances, if it is appropriate, they would assign two elders (hopefully ones familiar with the situation) to visit such an individual. No visit would be made on any who evidence a critical, dangerous attitude or who have made it known that they want no help.Romans 16:17, 18; 1 Timothy 1:20; 2 Timothy 2:16-18.

14 The two shepherds could telephone to ask about making a brief visit, or they could stop by at a suitable time. During the visit, they need not be stern or even cool but should warmly reflect their merciful concern. Instead of reviewing the past case, they could discuss Bible texts such as Isaiah 1:18 and 55:6, 7 and James 5:20. If the person is interested in returning to God’s flock, they could kindly explain what steps he should take, such as reading the Bible and publications of the Watch Tower Society and attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall.

15 These elders will need wisdom and discernment to determine whether there is indication of repentance and whether a follow-up visit would be advisable. They should bear in mind, of course, that some disfellowshipped persons will never be ‘revived to repentance.’ (Hebrews 6:4-6; 2 Peter 2:20-22) After the visit, the two would give a brief oral report to the Congregation Service Committee. They, in turn, would inform the body of elders at their next meeting. The elders’ merciful initiative will have reflected God’s view: “‘Return to me, and I will return to you,’ Jehovah of armies has said.”—Malachi 3:7.

Our BOE was told every time in the elders meeting with the CO that there had to be better shepherding.

Prior to any CO visit the COBE would run round everyone asking if they had "encouraged or spoken to anyone recently".
This was then presented to the CO as proof the BOE were doing as they were told.

Everyone here has it right - the elders don't want to do it unless they're forced. You force them by keeping records. No records = less shepherding.
The elders are already totally strung out and adding this much work to them will push many over the edge.
