Authoritarian regimes traditionally go one of two ways: they become more liberal and go more mainstream, as the Soviet Union did with glastnost and perestroika, or they become more radical like Hitler and North Korea. I see the GB becoming more radical.
Is This Current Governing Body As Bad As Previous Ones!

After a hundred years of learning how to handle the Flock, why can't the current GB learn how to be loving and kind?
I think they are trying to modernize the Watchtower Society for the long-haul, Tony Morris has weird ideas but we must give credit to others who are more liberial, let's give them ten years and the Blood Policy, 1914 and the Anti-College mindset will fade quicker than all their false prophecies.
Once the GB learns to reduce the burdens of the individuals they might actually make the JWs life easier. It's time for a real change instead of their regular moving pace of "peak evolution", the Organization is not the quickest learning group of men.

I think they are getting worse because there is a tremendous amount of denial on this ever changing Governing Body. To be a Governing Body member after 100+ years of expectation postponed printed by a religious printing corporation named after its main purpose for existance the job of CEO must be filled to the brim with denial denial denial, and more denial, add a touch of narcissism and you get a very limited group of weirdo to pick new members from. This is what is causing this worsening of Governing Body members over time.

Does the Governing Body believe we are living in the Last Days or are they trying to be financially stable in a World where the average JW is suffering from financial stagnation with children who are not prepared to make a "living wage" because their parents are still trying to follow the advice of the Governing Body by avoiding college?

Worse, much worse. They know the game is up after 100 years since 1914 but still spew out palpably absurd and twisted nonsense such as that Jesus meant an 'overlapping generation' etc. And they must know their sick child abuse policy and blood transfusion policy are thoroughly discredited and debunked but continue to defiantly perpetuate these wicked policies and creeds with all their rotten fruitage.
One can be forgiven for making a mistake in the beginning, but it takes a kind of wilful intellectual immorality and psychoses to continue to defend that mistake after all the accumulation of evidence to the contrary.

They seem much worse, but in essence they are the same. The previous leadership only had to cover its own BS and that of its predecessors while the current "administration' is doing the same, but the list of predecessors is longer. Rutherford only had to deal with his and Chuck's B.S. The "Great Eight' today have a huge load...the B.S. of Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, Freddie and everyone else after Freddie. How the hell do they manage to stay sane? Oh wait...

"3rd world countries love dictators."
Yeah, sure ......... Go ask the people of Argentine, Chile, Nicaragua, and all the colonies why they revolted and died by the thousands to combat the generals and juntas. Go ask the people of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador etc. why former guerilla leaders are now presidents or runners-up.
"love dictators" - shame on you!

I beleive the current GB know exactly what they're doing.
Methinks they probably don't believe in Jehovah(TM)...their real god is power and money.
I think that at least loony tunes like Knorr and Franz probably believed their own madness.
The current GB are self serving vile individuals that if they really were imaginary sky daddy's channel would act in a different way.
It's funny that they pretend to expouse the virtue of the bible and christ's love but in actuallity behave totally the opposite.

The pre-1971 GB was imaginary made up of the 7 directors of the WT, really controlled by the president, KNORR, and FRED Franz, doctrinally. With the advent of more people and the loss of power of Knorr and Franz, it became a political process as to who was the strong personality on the GB. With the 2/3 majority rule, especially so.

RottenRiley - "...they are trying to modernize the Watchtower Society for the long-haul..."
Wrong.
They are trying to give the appearance of modernization (whilst actually reinforcing a hard-line stance); don't mistake one for the other.
RottenRiley - "...Tony Morris has weird ideas we must give credit to others who are more liberial..."
Like who?
Any liberal or progressive elements in the top tiers of the WT heirarchy have long since been purged from their ranks; Ted Jaracz's iron-fisted reign hammered that nail home.
RottenRiley - "...give them ten years and the Blood Policy, 1914, and the Anti-College mindset will fade quicker than all their false prophecies."
The only reason they're trying to phase out the blood ban (without actually looking like they're phasing it out) is because it's become too much of a liability.
They can't ditch 1914, though, 'cause it's an integral date in WT cosmology, and every time they eased up on the anti-education rhetoric in the past, too many young JWs would go to college, excercise their brains, and figure out The Truth About the Truth.
As for their false prophecies, nothing fades in the Information Age.
RottenRiley - "Once the GB learns to reduce the burdens of the individuals they might actually make the JWs life easier."
The "heavy burdens" are too useful a tool to ever reduce.
RottenRiley - "It's time for a real change instead of their regular moving pace of 'peak evolution'..."
Never gonna happen.
They're an ultra-conservative authoritarian high-control group; which means that (among other things) they are ideologically incapable of implementing change at any rate faster than a snail's pace.
