Put Sarah Palin in charge. See how things go. I do agree that women tend to be less violent, though.

    Indira Gandhi LOL!

Re Catherine the Great, Wikipaedia says: "A notable example of enlightened despot, a correspondent of Voltaire and an amateur opera librettist, Catherine presided over the age of the Russian Enlightenment, when the Smolny Institute, the first state-financed higher education institution for women in Europe, was established.....She believed a 'new kind of person' could be created by inoculating Russian children with European education. Catherine believed education could change the hearts and minds of the Russian people and turn them away from backwardness. This meant developing individuals both intellectually and morally, providing them knowledge and skills, and fostering a sense of civic responsibility. ..."

All pre-20th century examples except for Indira Gandhi. Most pre-20th century wars did not involve untold suffering of citizens, being mostly fought amongst the soldiers away from citizenry. On the whole and balance I maintain that the world's history wouldn't have been as violent, particularly not in the twentieth century which has been the worst of all, but the point is moot.

read a little history. Matriarchal societies have been just as brutal as ones dominated by men. Sometimes more so.... Shirley

Could you list these matriarchal societies please I would like to read about them.

Wikipedia isn't the best source for history. Here is a better picture of the tyrant that Catherine the Great was.

Fact is, history is full of women rulers who were oppressive and warmongering.

Pronger that is not the same as a matriarchal society.

I have never mentioned a word about matriarchial societies. I'm just pointing out that there is no basis for believing that the world wouldn't be screwed up if women were rulers. Throughout history women rulers have been oppressive, murderers, led nations in wars and genocide and cleansing a like the Spanish Inquisition.

What utter balderdash. Exactly what history and "matriarchal societies" are you referring to?

I'm not going to carry water for you, Yadda. You've apparently closed yourself off to any consideration of my comment without knowing anything about the subject, so I doubt that if I do your heavy lifting it'll make any difference.

    .

However, I will suggest you read about the history of some South American matriarchal societies...it'll curdle your blood.
