@phizzy Expansion due to consolidation . I am not saying that that they will never move out there. Maybe some point in time they will make plans to move out there completely, but for now they did not yet.

I don't doubt they are not in a hurry, they are sitting on a fabulous fortune in development land at Mill Hill, and with inflation at 1.9% and property prices rising around 5% in Mill Hill, why should they be ?

With £30 Million in the Bank they will still have the bare faced cheek to extort more from the R&F to finance these projects, and when they do sell Mill Hill the proceeds will wend their merry way to H.Q in the U.S

    All Tax Free.

A Property Company posing as a religion indeed.

An odd move from Edgware ( very affluent) to Borehamwood ( very council) my point being in ten years property prices in Borehamwood will increase at a lower percentage than Edgware..

I wonder if the organisation sold the buildings in Edgware but retained the land. That would be a smart business move, the land could then be sold as independent lots for houses in a very affluent area.

@Phizzy if you look at it that way,.. every religion is a property company. And in that case compared with other religions the Watchtower Society is a small player

Where you have churches that are independent of central control, and the Congregation or Ecclesia own the building it is not so blatant as the WT though is it ?

And just because others do it in a bigger way, that does not make it right, or you could use the same argument for Paedophilia, which amazingly,

some JW's do ! "At least we are not as bad as the Catholic Church".

    Oh, that's alright then.

Kate wild, yes good point buying buildings for storage..now thats the sort of place you can get planning permission to build a supermarket on. Its crazy in England to see garages attached to houses in Watford being converted in to one bed appartments and sold for 180 thousand pound.

Unless they are exempt because of having charity status, that purchase would have cost them £750,000 (15%) in stamp duty alone!
