I'm not against capital punishment either, but there are "better" ways to die. I recognize that ancient communities needed to get rid of murderers however a decapitation (like in Japan) seems to me a more humane way of execution than the thing these monkeys do.

Speaking of modern days though, I don't see how such acts can be tolarated by national or international laws(?). The only conclusion I draw is that the leaders of those countries are either some pussies who are afraid of the public or psychopaths.

When you see the bible in action and in real life. It leaves you with a different taste, doesn't it? These are the things in the bible that shows how God cannot be real and if he is, then he is no better than Hitler.

Well, of course! That was the point of stoning, it's designed to be painful and slow.

Satan lied about Jehovah and implied that He is an unjust Sovereign.

    .

Actually, according to the Genesis narrative, Satan was telling the truth...it was god who was obscuring the facts. After Adam and Eve ate the fruit, the result turned out just as Satan said it would be- A&E did come to know good and bad (in reality, the account never says the snake was Satan---that was a thought that came along later).

    .

Religions have painted God as arbitrary, remote, or cruel.

At least religions got one thing right....

    .

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." - Richard Dawkins

They should watch the movie "The Stoning of Soraya M", it's based on a true story, and it would disabuse them of the notion that biblical justice was anything that should be accepted in modern society.

" Religions have painted God as arbitrary, remote, or cruel."

And not without reason . According to scripture God is the same today as he was yesterday and will be the same tomorrow .Its one thing to read about stoning in the bible , its another to actually witness one via this video . Such a barbaric practice in any age , let alone this 21st century.

Why would Jehovah initiate such a barbaric practice in the first place ? After all he did invent the sword . Gen.3:24.

Interestingly this OP can not be described as apostate. It simply quotes the book study the bible and a real life picture. It does provoke thought though eh!5

"Religions have painted God as arbitrary, remote, or cruel." Now hang on a dogone minute...the Bible, supposedly God's holy word, paints God as arbirtrary, remote and cruel...as others have said, this is cognitive dissonance writ large.

A turning point for me when leaving the JWs was watching online the stoning to death of an African woman. It was the most barbaric thing I have ever seen. Crowds of people were screaming at her, throwing all manner and size of rocks at her. She was cut and bleeding, would struggle to her feet and collapse again to the ground. Small rocks hitting her head had stunned her so she deliriously would attempt to stand. It took many minutes for her to finally be unable to lift herself, as people contined to pelt her with more rocks. I have since looked for that video but can no longer find it.

What it showed is that the Mosaic Law was written in a time of barbarians. Stoning, slavery, the treatment of women and animal sacrifice were all inhumane. No educated country would pass such a laws in our more enlightened times. Any person that complains about modern society is unaware of how much we have progressed. The Old Testament was a product of its times and fortunately the Greeks improved culture enough that by the time of the New Testament the writers were somewhat less offensive.
