I'm sorry to hear that, Jeff.

Do take the time to get away for awhile, even if it's just for a cup of coffee.

    Been there, done that.

    Love and blessings.

Sorry to hear about this JeffT my mom broke her hip and lay there for 8 hours......she forgot to put on her emergency alarm we got for her......we lived 400 miles away.

She did not tolerate the nursing home during her therapy. Eventually she went into a Catholic assisted living facility............ turns out the Elders approved it as they had nothing better for her or any of the other aged and needy friends in their area.

She did rally and under her expressed orders we sold her home and belongings and that helped with expenses. She endured Cathoilic cross's in the hallways and elevators and no witness companions......... she died three years later at age 90 greatly diminished in mind and soul but safe and sound.

The WTBTS has no comprehension of what is needed for their believers.

Mothers teach what unconditional love means.

Although hard to watch, it is your love and support that helps encourage your mother.

Let your mother know how she has always been a strong person and she can get past this.

Jeff you need to take care of yourself. Take breaks and walk through the hospital looking at the art on the wall. Read a fiction book.

Prayers are going out to you!

We don't know how she did it as we have caregivers with her at all times, she may have fallen while in the bathroom for a few minutes.

Sorry about your poor Mom. What many people don't realize is that often the hip breaks first (osteoporosis) and then they fall. The bones can become brittle enough that they can't support the body even when doing normal activities.

Everyone who I've known who's had joint replacement has had a good result and it has made a big difference in thier life.

It can be overwhelming to care for our elderly parents. I feel for you. I hope you all get through this somehow.

    Hey, Jeff,

How old is your mom? Is she easy to talk to?

Yes, things can happen so quickly. If she doesn't like her caregivers "shadowing" her ---as when in the bathroom---things happen. I care for a woman with advanced Altheimer's 2x a week. It is a challenge. Some mornings or some days she isn't steady on her feet as at other times. I am careful that her shoes fit properly. Also they put a little rug in the kitchen that I think she has trouble with--so I tell them. But I am not the only one taking care of her. It's a patchwork of care.

It is true that time and unforeseen events do befall us. But we try to take care of each other--she will know you love her. That is always the greatest thing.

    Take care,

    Maeve
