Dear Jeff,
Hope your mum makes a speedy recovery....make sure she gets really good food while she is in there, it really does make a difference to her recovery.
Hope you cope, I know how stressing it is to take care of someone in hospital over a long period of time.
HUGS
I hope she gets well soon and makes a good recovery. It's not easy looking after someone who has always been independent.my mum was poorly last year and she isn't a good patient!!!!
My mum got into audio books when she was ill.
I am in the same boat of caring for elderly parent with degenerative Neuro disease [Not Alzheimers]
btw Often the hip breaks which causes the fall [Osteoporosis].
I trust you have others who can assist you with support. Also the medical costs can be crippling - in our case Grandpa who passed in 2009 had no life insurance - why? Because when he wanted to take one out [45 years ago] he was told he was showing lack of faith - afterall the world was going to end in 1975 - so gran ended up in the Shit ! And by extension the children - we - now carry the financial can.
I feel for you and empathize with you.
Thank you all.
She is doing better today, they got her up out of bed for a few minutes, and she is much more lucid than she was a couple of days ago. Hospitals and drugs aggrevate her dementia, which doesn't help. I'm managing to destress a bit today.
FYI, Mom is 91. As children of the depression (and having never been sucked in by a whacky religion) she and Dad managed their money very well. We're in good shape to pay for whatever we need, which helps a lot.
I am glad she is doing better, and that finance are not a problem. She is lucky to have you to take care of her.
Good news Jeff! She 91 sounds like your father takes very good care of her! And you take good care of both.
Good your less stressed out.
Take care.
Here's an article about my Mom that came out today.

Jeff when I tried to open the article it asks for login and password. Can you do a cut and paste?
