As long as publisher feel the preaching work is important they will keep on donating money to support the WT. The bulk of the WT income surely doesn't come from the field, but from publishers donating. The moment field service loses its importance what work will donations support? Why would anyone donate?
What is the purpose of Field Service??

I don't think the FS is effective. I think it's an invasion of privacy. The amount of people I got out of bed on a Saturday!!! Sorry....
Christians should show love to their neighbour and show an example, not preach about it. That's what Jesus was about.
Thanks for your input. X

Purpose of field service?
I am assuming field service includes ALL forms of outreach - Kiosks, Bus Stops, Street Corner, Door-to-Door, Letter writing, Phone Calling
1. Get new members. (Which is believed to save lives)
2. Publicity. (Attract attention. Put the world on notice.)
3. Build group loyalty.
4. Assess individual zeal for appointment to positions in organization.

Jehovah's Witness
Why you calling on me?
If I didn't call I wouldn't exist
Piss off
Fine. See you next month
But I told you to piss off
If I didn't call I wouldn't exist. And I want to exist.
Glad to help you in your quest to exist. Until next time Piss off

Field circus serves only to prevent anyone from developing anything else. You try doing something else, you need to turn in time for field circus--and let that go down, you are going to be hounded. You can't enjoy your vacation because you need field circus every month. You can't retire, or take a few months off to do anything else. You are always stuck preparing for this waste of time, wasting money and polluting the earth in the process. This prevents you from finding your true soul.
Or developing it. When is the last time you learned anything about your soul while out in field circus? There is no time to meditate--except that what they call meditation on what is in their littera-trash (which does not count, since it forces that image on your soul and you put psychic energy into it and therefore into communism). Instead of doing real meditations--including void meditation. Just challenge any jokehovian to do a void meditation for even 30 seconds, without thinking about some element of jokehovianism. They know nothing about the energies of the planets (which do act in phases with each other, giving the power to astrology), let alone how to manipulate such energy. When is the last time anyone has been advised not to do field circus because Jupiter is in the way? Or starting a study because the moon is in a bad degree of its sign or Saturn is poorly lined up with Mars or Venus? Or, to pious-sneer to take advantage of Saturn in Sagittarius? Has anyone even heard of a void of course moon through field circus or at the boasting sessions?

1. It is a way to get converts... not very efficient, but a way nonetheless.
2. It is a way for the organization to make money. Free labor getting donations for the publications.
3. It is a way of convincing JWs that their lives are important... they are supposedly bring a life saving message.
4. It is a way of measuring spirituality. Hours invested and materials placed are measurable. Love, joy, peace, kindness, etc. are not.
5. It is a way of making JWs feel superior to everyone else. Look at all the hours we put in. No one else does that.
6. It is a way of keeping JWs indoctrinated. If you are teaching the doctrines every week you are less likely to question them or drift away.
