    Here are two suggestions.

    (1) Any volitional act that is good for yourself and/or society is moral, while any volitional act that is bad for yourself and/or society is immoral. The only rule is against initiating force, threats of force, or fraud against another person or their property. This will appeal to those who are atheist and wish not to believe in spirits.

    (2) The only sin is stupidity. Go ahead and learn about those spiritistic practices. Try delving into the depths of astrology--hint: What you see in the paper is way too superficial to be more than entertainment. Work with energy. Delve into planetary squares. Learn the runes. Work the Ouija board and Tarot cards. This approach is more for those who believe in spirits and wish to find Satan.

Just remember, in the LIE-ble, it was joke-hova god that had to withhold knowledge from people. Satan wanted us to be free, and this is blatant if you read that section of Genesis without bias. Do you really wish to make that thing that wanted you enslaved happy? Any religion that worships joke-hova, allah, or jesus is bogus--all three major platforms and anything they polluted is going to lead to damnation.

JHINE: My faith gives me self esteem , I was made in God's image and He loves me . If you do not love yourself then you cannot love others as you love yourself

I am glad you love yourself, but do you honestly think you have to believe in God to do so?

COFTY: The modern tendency towards "non-religious spirituality" is an exercise in self-deception

Well, count me among the self deceivd

Heaven and LiaRose - Spirituality clearly implies a belief in a spirit.

If all we mean is "leaving a legacy" or an appreciation for beautiful things, then using words with superstitious connotations is misleading.

From Wikipedia: The term "spirituality" lacks a definitive definition, [1] [2] although social scientists have defined spirituality as the search for "the sacred," where "the sacred" is broadly defined as that which is set apart from the ordinary and worthy of veneration.

I believe that there can been room in your life to think about things other that the day to day and the physical. I think that is what bothers people when you tell them they are stupid to believe in God. You think they are childish and deluded, but they have something in their lives that is meaningful to them, and they see you as trying to take that away from them and replace it with cold hard facts and science. That works for you, it doesn't work for everyone.

I see something other than those two very opposite choices. I think that we do have a spiritual need, but that need doesn't have to be filled with religion. It's looking for the silver lining, it's looking for the good in people, and being surprised when you find it. It's looking at a beautiful sunset, it's looking within and finding strength in yourself that you didn't know you had. It's something hard to explain, but that I know when I feel it. I know it is a part of myself that I don't want to give up.

I don't know if they still have it, but we used to call it "Repetition for Emphasis" ;)

I have all of that and more but it has nothing to do with "spirituality".

Reality is not cold - it is awe-inspiring.

As I said, Its hard to put into words. Maybe we are talking about the same thing, but putting a different label on it, I don't know, I just know what works for me.

And I wasn't saying there is something wrong with reality. What I was trying to say is that for some people their religion fills a need, and that the thought of living without that spiritual component is not appealing to them, I think that is what makes people resist Atheism.

In spirituality, God or Spirit is not a factor. (James 2:8)

Spirituality is contrasted with egoism. (Galatians 5:16, 26)

When we say the spirit of the article or novel, we mean the overall tendency or essence of it.

In the same way, spirituality means to live by the essential nature of man!

What is the nature/essence of man?

Humans appreciate being loved and abhor being harmed—hence human nature/essence (spirituality) is to love and refrain from doing harm.
