Below is a link to a site by who I believe to be along time JW and an article he has written basically justifying the Watchtowers stance on the pedophile issue. The gist of it I got was that since there is so much more of it in other religions, it isn't all that bad within the JWs. What a pity they won't open their eyes;

I guess a little bit of pedophilia is okay, as long as it is not as much as the rest of the religions.
Yeah right. How is it possible that Holy Spirit can assign men to be elders amd ministrial servants, whom later turn out to have been pedophiles all of their lives?
If JW's have the Truth and if Holy Spirit directs them, then people who have pedophilic tendencies would become better persons, and not let these tendencies get the better of them.
Elders and Ministrial Servants are assigned by the Watchtower. That makes the Watchtower liable.
If it is at all possible for the Holy Spirit to assign people who have been pedophiles all of their lives, then what kind of Holy Spirit is it?
What kind of spirit is it that really directs these people?
Yep, this individual ignores the fact that:
Watchtower sends the molesters to people's doors
Watchtower expels/shuns victims
Watchtower expels/shuns victims' advocates
And so on and so on..but the JW's ARE waking up and ARE doing something about it. Jw's ARE fighting back their abusive 'mother'.

I haven't read the link yet, but I can imagine the rationale. I think the JWs have moved into this line of reasoning with regards their entire religion; We may have made mistakes, and we may have our faults, but we are better that the rest....... Choose a religion that is 70% right over a religion that is only 30% right - special bonus offer -we have 33% less pediphile activity!
Another thought that obviously others have mentioned is celibacy and it's contribution to pedophillia. Clearly testosterone and sexual frustration for celibate clergy is a problem. Although why they don't just go to brothels or prey on bored housewives or young women who want to try out a priest I'll never know. Does sexual frustration warp a man so badly? And if the number of cases is related to celibacy, then why are witness men doing it? I find the whole thing impossible to fathom.

I think this Jw hit the proverbial nail on the head. Pedophilia is lamentable. It is also probably rare among jws. Only bigotted persons would present such information as dakota has presented it. The jw is not advocating or approving of pedos.
When I was a witness we were constantly reminded How clean and pure Jehovah's true organization was compared to the low standards of the world, scriptures were quoted like a little leaven ferments the whole lump' Jehovah's organiszation was a spiritual Paradise of purityso completely different from the world.
Now it seems that a little leaven is acceptable provided it is less leaven than what the other religions have.
I know one witness who still speaks to me that has read both Ray Franze's books and knows the flawed concepts and ideology of the Watchtower but has chosen to remain a witness, his explanation is that the witnesses have got a lot of things wrong but in percentage terms the Church's has got more wrong still, so in his eyes it all seems to be about percentage graphs.
Has anyone here read any greek histoiry? Do you recall the stories about the noble greeks who thought that young boys were just the best thing since sliced bread? Pedophilia is wrong. That i will say. But it is only a crime, as my comment about the greeks shows, when the government says it is a crime. However God says that any sex relations or fondling outside of marriage is a sin. Pedophilia is always a sin then. It was a sin in Alexander the Great's day even when it was not a crime. It remains a sin today. Jws do right when they oppose this sin. They obey God rather than men.
The bottom line is this. Last weeks Watchtower said that the Governing Body is "under the direct control of Jesus Christ".
Now, there are pedo's all over, but do the other religions mak this same BOLD claim.
And how does the 'we are no different from the other religions' claim hold up when such statements are made???

No I am not saying that two wrongs make a right. The jw is not saying that either. Read his web page. His argument seems to be that while people are fixating on a few cases of "pedophilia" within the org, there are plenty of other cases occurring in other churches. All these cases, he says, are "lamentable."

I know it is hard for those who think according to the sinful flesh to see this point. But the jws are trying to balance God's interests as they see them, with positive law. This balancing act is not always easy. Christians are taught to hate the sin and love the sinner. If a person repents of any sin, she should be forgiven. Should we then tell the whole neighborhood that she is a pedo, after she repents?
