ShirleyW, they pilots could have somehow quickly incapacitated all the passengers to prevent them from making calls. One thought is, if the pilots put on their oxygen masks then adjusted the cabin pressure from the normal 8000 ft to something higher like 18000, in which case all passengers would pass out in seconds. Maybe that's why they first climbed to 45,000 feet? The 777's service ceiling is about 41 or 42,000. Above that, there's not enough air molecules for the engine to function right and for the wings to carry the weight of the aircraft.

You're the first person I've heard to say this of the pilot:

"I don't think he had any involvment whatsoever in the incident. Of course, I don't know what happened, but I'd be shocked if he had anything to do with it."

Every other opinion I've heard of him seems to point to him as the prime suspect.

Interesting that you also feel the media have revealed too much about what is known - nothing I've heard so far has "shocked" me or was something I didn't already strongly suspect - nothing you wouldn't know just by watching the Discovery channel?

Interesting thoughts...Here's a question for all of you...who killed JFK, did RFK run from the scene of the crime when that woman fell into the water? All these questions have not really been answered as of today. 60 minutes has been on since I was a child, I am now 60...every weekend, they expose one thing or another...when do they ever run out of things to expose...There is so much going on that the public doesn't even know....the media is in bed with the govenment....they tell us what they think we want to hear...they blindside us by telling us, things that really don't matter like who is sleeping with whom...But where the plane is, they can only speculate....when & where was the last communication with the pilot ? I think they know, but don't want to alarm the public...since 911, Americans are jumpy..I would love to do more travelling, but folks today are too careless...Too busy on their phones, Ipads, Kindles, etc. to pay attention to their jobs. We live in a point & click generation, if there is not icon to point to on how to get one out of a mess, they are clueless...the art of thinking is...GONE...

What I do hope is that they find the plane & all is well....& if the gov't knows something...at least tell the loved ones of the passengers...this is pure torture for them.

At this point the plane can still be found but, how can all still be well? That's not a realistic thought. Even if they're somewhere on dry land, no food, etc.

Thanks... I love the US of A, but we know who we are, we can lie to everyone but ourselves. There are so many unanswered questions The US has never answered, this may well be one of them....I just can't believe they can't track the plane....with all the devices & technology in today's world....Don't believe it. It's human error & in today's world, no one likes to be accountable...Everyone is pointing their fingers at the other guy.

See God should have never given us "Free-will" he should have made us Faithful Robots & as time went by we could earn "Free-will"...Man can't stand too much freedom...

Again, we live in a point & click world, don't have to think & don't want to think, unless it has to do with oneself....Sad...

What we can all do is pray for the passengers, crew & loved ones....that's what we all can do...Come out of ourselves & think of others for a change...

Generally cell towers will pick the signal from the plane at that altitute. Generally modern standard is around 10 miles depending on the providers, but in the urban setting it is much smaller 5msq radius or even less, and much larger in the rural setting up to 21 miles, but due curvature of the earth should not be more than 30 miles. However, there is no cell tower coverage over the open ocean, poor through mountanious and rugged terrain and rural area. If the plane crossed over the Malay penninsula which is mountainous and forested, even at lower elevation no cell tower could pick the signal.

Political statements usually have some words attached to the actions. There were none here. Religious extremists seem to enjoy staking claim to their acts (often there are false claimants, even). No one has said a word about this other than political commentators, really, and armchair experts.

First we are told that rank amateurs learned to fly airplanes-jets using flight simulators that were made for teaching professionals and now an actual, certified professional is supposedly practicing on a flight simulator? I find that lacking in credibility.

As to the names(Muslim)-probably a good 1/4-1/3 of the pilots of the world are Muslim. If all/most/many Muslims were so hot about crashing planes into the ocean or buildings or anywhere, then you'd have a lot different world than we do. In fact, were so many ready and willing to commit mayhem in the skies, why do you think they bothered to train all the rank amateurs for 9/11? Perhaps that is NOT the normal behavior of Muslims??? That hasn't occurred to anyone yet? Seriously, they find guys like "the underwear bomber"? I'm still interested to know the injuries he sustained when he exploded himself (and thankfully no one else!)

I personally think snakeface has the more logical scenario , as far as incapacitating the passengers and then landing in some remote place , for whatever reason I dont know. The fact that nobody on that plane tried to communicate with family via mobile phone , I think is telling.

It happened with flight 93 , during 9/11 where people who were aware of what was happening managed to contact reatives on their mobile phones.

Admittedly it is a mystery
