More evidence the Organization is "growing" faster than ever. Coupled with Branch closures, dumping all the Brooklyn real estate, and laying off Bethel workers by the thousands, the WT Society is a veritable runaway freight train of "growth", "expansion" and obvious blessings from Jehovahâ„¢.
.
Only in Watchtower Land is a fire sale liquidation advertised as success.

I knew Angelo pretty well. Great public speaker. Liked to drink wine and cheat at golf..LOL. He could be tough, but had a good sense of humor. When he got old, kind of grew his hair out. Looked like an orchestra conductor.

It's 2014 and you can't survive by sofa surfing, cheap suits and free lunches for too long without having dire consequences to your real life. How many young men and women want to sacrifice their future for the status of being a C.O. for a few years?
The older c.o.'s are either too radical or too ill. The young JW's are not interested in living like a well dressed homeless person. This has happened because there simly seems to be not enough C.O.'s.
I know it was starting to be an issue just as I was leaving In 03/04. They were making temporary c.o.'s out of anyone interested, including young couples, some of which had less than exaplary backgrounds (by JW standards) and were simply moved to another part of the country to do it. We had one come by, but my friends (from afar) knew him from youth and it was awkward. This guy didn't have the best reputation when he was younger and he was visibly embarassed to be there as a C.O. With people who knew him. He was not much older than 30 at the time.
What a mess this 'religion' has gotten itself into. Financially struggling members, people leaving in droves, it survives on the baptisms of JW children, too scared to leave. The authoritarian members are dying off and the young are struggling to get by, too busy working to slave for the borg.
Nobody ever said once in my whole JW life, that as the end got nearer they would have to downsize and slow down.... Quite the opposite!

Are his initials J.C.? Just curious!

Good morning folks! My personal take here is that there is greater need for CO's than DO's. Perhaps there are overlapping or redundant functions of the DO which the CO can discharge. It's part of streamlining the organization (probably the GB initiated an Organizational Dev't program).
The clear problem though will be for those DO's who will be technically displaced and won't be re-assigned as CO's. DO's have material privileges being given by the Society. Hopefully the GB will have good plans for them as well especially those who are already advancing in age and have not much options to find a new career.

@snare&racket: Hahahahaha, best definition EVER for "Circuit Overseer":
The young JW's are not interested in living like a well dressed homeless person.
How true!
The DO post used to be a job for slackers. They could accompany the CO, but sometimes could also spend half of the week doing some "secret work for the Service Department" (=slacking off). I knew of DO's that would do this all the time. Take time off, pass by at Bethel and spend there a couple of days researching some "difficult matter" or discussing some "high level issues" with personnel from the Service Department (I was one of them and had to sit in with these guys). I knew what they where doing, so, more than once I gave them "special jobs" to do:
go photocopy all this stack of paper and then report back to me, BITCH.
Win-win. They where happy that they could do some "secret branch work" and have three fine meals and I was happy because I didn't have to listen to their bullshit stories. I was a happy Service Department secretary. Could bitch slap DO's and they even thanked me!
