  The Watchtower society just like any other corporation has periodic reports and dashboards to measure growth and performance and revenue is definietely one of the key indicators. No,it's not all about money, but it's still a key indicator.

  Since the GB is not really profiting from the revenue, it's probably not very important to them, and they are likely more interested in prestige and power, but remember that the Watchtower Society corporate structure is not the same as the Christian Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.

  The CCJW is all about doing Jehoober's work, that's the fairytale corporation. The WTBTS is the business side, they care about money and growth. In fact, that's probably all they care about. You don't think they have a say in which policies will drive financial growth? I do. I think the team in charge of the financial affairs of the WT pushes for policies that will drive economic growth.

  They are not just greedy for money. They want human souls. They shut out any alternative spirituality, even banning such practices as Tae Bo (an exercise program that strengthens muscles and helps with weight loss but is "martial arts"). They strip you materially so you are living an austere life, using cheap crap. Most witlesses have cheap crap cooking utensils, a cheap crap iron and ironing board (a good iron can cost 60 or more toilet papers, and a good ironing board can be more than 100), cheap crap umbrellas, cheap crap furniture, and so on. All the while, all the money is sent to the Worldwide Damnation Fund so they can spread damnation books everywhere in the world. Yes, they make money--but they are more like misers. The members live poorly, and that contributes to damnation.

  Additionally, they are supposed to take care of regular things only after the communist kingdom is taken care of (which is never). Health no longer matters. Celibacy is the standard--courtship takes from communism interests. You waste most of your time driving in poor areas (more poverty vibrations), usually in areas devoid of beauty (more damnation). They also waste time dry "cleaning(??)" their suits--if they dry "clean(??)" them weekly, they may well come back dirtier than when they went in. Many waste time ironing shirts (and it takes longer with a cheap crap iron than with a good one, plus it's more of a drudgery if you have a crap ironing board). They also waste time studying rubbish based on their own damnation, developing hangups regarding sex, and damn their own souls.

  Which is what the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger is really after. They would rather you never enjoy your life.

  I'm with Wizard when it comes to ironing and dry cleaning. At some point a couple years ago we donated all the suits, ties, dress shoes and skirts in the house to goodwill, along with the iron and ironing board.

  If an occasion requires "dressing up," we just don't attend.

  And it IS true that for 30 years in the cult we bought the cheapest second hand crap quality of everything.

  WTWizard is right. It all adds up to your life being wasted in a ritualistic neo-zionist/judeo-xian mish-mash, where "spirituality" is a strict regimented "theocratic" routine that traps you in a cycle of dependency.

  People don't need the WTBTS, it needs them. Their lives, souls, blood, sweat and tears, are what grease the wheels of the Corporation. Next thing you know, you are lying in hospice. The END has not come, but your life is ending.

  I am not entirely sure what you mean here wtwizard but I used to be accounts servant and the money we sent to the Worldwide fund was about £500 a month, which is a really pathetic amount in a congregation with 100 publishers. Lots of JWs never give and very few give even over 1%, let alone tithe.
