ConnieLynn, Thanks for clarifying this. I think that people who have been rejected by society, and this includes people with limited capabilities in whatever sense, are naturally looking for something better - life can be tough for them and Jehovah's Witnesses seem to provide what they need. People who have good health, a good education and a good income are not usually in that same frame of mind to be open to the witnesses.

When people try to elevate themselves, they usually attempt it at the expense of others.
It's all a facade.A facade? Like being a resident of Uruguay?

Studies involving persons who are ex-members of various cultic religions reveal a common factor in their indoctrination. The common factor is not low intelligence, genetic predisposition, or even gullibility. Many who join cults are very intelligent, idealistic and even skeptical at first. The common factor is vulnerability, caused by a change of circumstances in a person's life, such as a new job, a recent divorce or broken relationship, or a time of pain or insecurity in one's life. Such a change of circumstances can shake one's foundation, allowing him/her to question beliefs previously settled or not open to discussion…
I have discovered that the JW is only willing to entertain the possibility of the Watchtower being wrong for two reasons: (1) they have become disillusioned with the organization or the people therein (for whatever reason), and (2) they have become more confident and secure, and are no longer afraid to question the Watchtower. They realize their world would not fall apart if it was wrong. Sometimes people even grow beyond the need for such a rigid, controlling structure and are seeking the freedom to think for themselves and not to just trust someone else's judgment.1

blondie, that is so true. Jehovah's Witnesses are often branded as stupid and unintelligent, and I can certainly understand this point of view from the standpoint that I am in at the moment. But coming to that conclusion is rather over-simplistic. People are so diverse in their emotional makeup, it is something that is very difficult to gauge.
Perhaps the words "Stupid" and "Unintelligent" should not be thought of as the same.

Matty,
Maybe you're right. I do know this, though. I have seen JW's close down their minds so many times, that I really do believe it affects their brains physically, so that their IQ becomes lowered.
It's almost akin to someone who is permanently taking tranquillisers. They get so used to the fog of non-comprehension rolling in, that they almost will themselves into stupidity.

This is certainly interesting. Mystikool and Hilda (perhaps they are one and the same....perhaps not), began their foray into this forum with some spelling errors, but basically good grammar and sentence structure.
Suddenly, these two have degenerated into illiterates, claiming little concept of the English....um....Engrish....language.
Hilda, especially, called many "dense" and "stupid" and flaunted her supposedly superior "intelligence". Now, however, these two buffoons are acting at being humble, uneducated, but highly spiritual truthseekers who are being lambasted by others.
You two are not only rude and ignorant, but you're also very bad actors.
Truth? Neither of you would recognize truth if it bit you in the butt.

Red,
You are absolutely correct. Compare this post of Hilda Bingen:
:I am glad you didnt mean that comment you made. Could you explain to me EXACTLY how Bill Bowen is "generalizing"? When did he say all JWs are molesters or protectors? When I see what he is doing ,it seems to me he is trying to protect more kids from being abused.:
Bowen has not said that all jws are molesters. That is right. But his figures of 23,000 jws in the US alone being molesters seems to be a bit high. Mr Bowen, in my opinion, has not verified his results in a scientific way. I am almost certain this is the case. I might also add that he has posted things here implying that jws (in general) approve of pedophilia. That has not been my experience. I just have questions about his motives. Not perfect, nor are my posts, but readable. Now compare today’s post from Hilda:
:i am an ongoing JW, but something is trubbeling mee, we read in the bookstudie, abaout the slav and that he was telling us that crist take the power in heaven 1914,and they talk a lot of diffrent profethis 1918, 1919.
But when i read inn old books as i have, written inn 1920 centuri, they say the last days start 1799, and jesus come to hevaen 1874.
I dont find this understanding as we now have before 1942, and then in begginingof 1950 it was more clearly understood,BUT WHY IS GOV BODY TELLING US THINGS WHO DONT IS THE WHOLE TRUTH, very confusing.:
Read proverbs 4:18, brother. I, as a sister, should not teach you. but just read proverbs and think about how early people of God came to right understanding after many years. My Engrish is limited. I trust you know what i say doh. ask elders about this too.So, who is Hilda trying to kid here? One post reasonably comprehensible, one in Pidgin English. She hasn’t used a word check either, if she had there would be no colon (:) at the start of either post. So she is not being honest, that’s for sure!

"Maybe they were like that before becoming witnesses, and the strange logic appealed to their lower IQ, thereby propelling them into dub-dom."
Yes, generally speaking, execptions here and there.
"dim bulbs in the lamp. LOL "
We dont use bulbs!Man, are you behind! bulbs are the precursor of the vaccumm tube. Which are not in use anymore except in some special applications.
We use the energy efficient LED, Light End at Dubs, for illumination. But even the wavelength is the same, visible, it is not detected by their (dubs) figurative eyes,
I'll take that back IT IS 'detected' or sensed by their "eyes' but their brain condition make it impossible to produce the picture right in fron of them. Selective blindness (when light come from advanced LED sources) due to a brain condition no problem with the pick up devices (eyes)
You can stay with your hot bulbs source of light (emitting old 1914 crap), until you cant find replacements, very soon now. But it may BURN you in the meantime.
"6 percent with college education."
That is exggerated, it is closer to 0.

Hi Hilda-Mystikool,
What happened to your English skills? Your earlier posts showed that you had at least a high school grasp of English grammar. But your recent posts indicate that your skills have degenerated to the point that your writing ability is barely literate. These are symptoms that cause me to become very concerned about the state of your mental health. Are you aware that on this site you are starting to manifest the classic symptoms of Multiple Personality Disorder?
One can only imagine the suffering you must be enduring as the illiterate personality eclipses the educated one. There is probably a third personality involved, one who uses language that would not be permitted on this site. I hope we never see that personality. But this emphasizes the seriousness of the disorder and I strongly advise that you seek professional help immediately. Sufferers of MPD were often abused as children and they developed the additional personalities as a defense mechanism. What happened was not their fault and they shouldn't blame themselves. This sickness is nothing to be ashamed of, and mental health professionals will not laugh or make fun of you. Please don't delay in seeking help. With the right medication and therapy MPD sufferers have been helped to integrate their personalities and to lead a normal and happy life.
Good luck,
Athansius

Mystikool,
What an idiot you are flashing terms about IQ tests. You said that Stanford and Binet had something to do with it. Well, you dumb ass, Binet developed the test in France in the early 1900's, but Stanford had nothing to do with it. The reason is that Stanford was not a person. It was a college. It was Stanford University, where Binet's test was translated into English, hence the name, The Stanford Binet Intelligence Test. It was the best test in its day, but there are several tests today that are as good or better, including the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, and the Wonderlic Personnel Test. These tests have a test-retest reliability and a construct reliability above .95. By the way, the square root of construct validity is equal to the test-retest reliability.
So don't run shit on this board about shit you don't understand and never will, dipshit.
Sorry, if I got too deep into your shit, but the combination of ignorance and arrogance really bothers me. If you were ignornant, but nice, I would not do this to you.
