truth - I am only talking about having ammo locked if you have kids. If you don't then that doesn't apply. A safe wouldn't keep a gun owner from suicide or in any way using it. It would keep a trained kid who has a psychological breakdown from doing it though.
Took my son (5 yrs) shooting for his first time.

The guns in my house are unloaded but not locked up.
Truthseeker ...
What good is a gun if it is not loaded? If a bad guy breaks into your house, do you want to ask him to wait while you load the gun?
Everyone including children should keep a loaded gun under their pillow. Maybe two just in case. Then teach them to shoot first and ask questions later if someone comes into their bedroom at night.
It's all about safety.

Dazed - When you posted I guess you knew those who are against guns would post as well. Since I'm allowed my opinion as you are yours shooting at a range is one thing, but when they're in your home and you have kids so I'm sure you know that they can find things that you thought were out of there reach, so with that being said, my thoughts of those who have guns and kids in the house, hope I don't see you on the news one night how one kid shot his brother/sister/neighbor, etc., as you well know, it happens.

all I am saying is teaching some child about the proper use fire arms is a responsible thing to do. I have lived and survived when the only thing between me and my next meal was 30 30 cartrige. Have you ?
Not teaching young people the responsible use of fire arms is neglet.

why is there so much hyperbole on this thread? In the US, guns are common. I would rather my kids know them, safety rules and how to use them than not.

EOM- gun is kept in a safe. Are you afraid of your own shadow?
Rub- Yes, because that's the logical next step. What an ass backwards argument.
Shirley- out of reach and locked in a safe are 2 different things. it happens. yes, when parents are too lazy or too stupid to show their kids proper fear and respect for firearms.
Millions of gun owners and approx 11000 gun related homicides/ suicides a year.
I didn’t intend to start a gun rights argument. You people are funny. Americans are all irresponsible loons apparently.

What are you talking about? He will likely be dead by next month according to some of the lovely posters here.
BTW- I also let him play in the middle of the street on a busy highway.... how else is he gonna learn to watch out for cars?

Not impressed. Get your son onto Modern Warfare already, jeez... teach him how to build, create, and deploy his own quad-copter drone for f--k's sake. What is taking your son so long already? You are an American, right?
All this nonsense about high-capacity rounds is yesterday. A well-armed malitia clearly includes private arduino-powered auto-aim quad-copter drones flying overhead. What's your son going to do about that? Are you teaching him de-soldering techniques yet?
