Such of the hypocrisy of WT: it tells all JWs we're on the doorstep of Armageddon so do nothing that even hints at long-range planning (college; saving for retirement;investing). Meanwhile, WT goes full steam ahead building its empire with very long-range plans.

    w87 12/1 p. 30:

"Unlike the churches of Christendom, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not take up collections or send out envelopes to solicit donations."

    ---

    *** w62 5/1 p. 277 How May I Contribute? ***
But because the Watch Tower Society is a charitable organization and because it does not follow the methods of Christendom’s religions, taking up money collections or tithes, there is a good deal of wonderment as to how the Society gets its money and supports itself.

    *** w13 7/1 p. 4 Can You Trust Religion Regarding Money? ***
Jehovah’s Witnesses commonly meet in modest buildings called Kingdom Halls. How are expenses covered? They never pass collection plates, nor do they send out envelopes to solicit donations. Rather, any who appreciate the spiritual program can discreetly place a donation in a contribution box at the Kingdom Hall.

They never pass collection plates, nor do they send out envelopes to solicit donations .

When it comes to details about how the WT corporation collect funds this is true. They get money their money other ways than this benign form of collection for instance they send out persons to go door to door and sell their product for free. They hoodwink people into free service to the corporations causes and make up scams to get more donation from the dumb down rank and file who are admonished not to get a higher education but instead devote one's youth to free service to the corporation. Presently they are cashing in on selling real estate they have collected donation for and used free labor to build as well, this seems to be their main source of fund gathering to which they seem to be in a hurry to sell before the whole business goes belly up because it was all based on false hood and wishful thinking a date that never happened or will happen.

They collect funds other ways than that so big deal, how does that make them better than other religions when everything they teach is a scam about the end of the world and joining them to get salvation, which I think is far more evil than passing a collection plate or sending out envelopes for donations.

Are the laws for non-profits the same as for RELIGIOUS non-profits?

    Blondie ...

I am not an attorney nor a cpa, but I think the rules are more flexible for Religious Non-Profits.

Other Non-Profits must demonstrate a real purpose or provide something of benefit for the community.

Does anyone have a copy of this letter in full? One of our elder double-agents, perhaps?

    #1) Solicit

    From Webster's dictionary:

    so·lic·it

    verb \sə- ˈ li-sət\

: to ask for (something, such as money or help) from people, companies, etc.

: to ask (a person or group) for money, help, etc.

    example from Webster's :

    1. The organization is soliciting for donations. [ HAHAHAH!!!HAHAHAHA!!!! Oh the irony!!! LOL!!!! ]

#2) Based on the facts, including the meaning of the word "solicit", the following is complete Bull-S***!!

Who is doing Jehovah's will today?

" We do not tithe, charge dues, or take up collections. Although the costs of supporting our evangelizing work are high, we do not solicit money." page 24, paragraph 2.

#3) Based on this quote, " PROCLAIMERS BOOK chap. 21 p. 341 - "There are no emotional appeals for funds in their congregations or at their conventions......... Christians...........do not tithe, nor are they under obligation to give any other contribution of a specified amount or at a particular time." (Matt. 5:17; Rom. 7:6; Col. 2:13,14)", the following is also complete BULL-S***!!!

"Thus anyone can regularly [ this is a particular time] "set something aside" to give " just as he has resolved in his heart." page 24, paragraph 3 of " Who is doing Jehovah's will today?"

The quotes in the magazines that prohibit tithing, and soliciting, and asking for ANY "specified amounts" at "particular times" are based on the Bible. "God's word" is the reason those actions are said to be forbidden in "true worship. If the WTBTS starts soliciting [ they already are] money in specific amounts, at particular times,[as the new donation arrangement seems to suggest] they are acting in ways that GOD's WORD forbids!! They are also going against their own "bible-based" literature, which oddly enough, is written by "THE CHANNEL." If the GB and Elders say that JW's should obey the SLAVE in this manner, even though it makes no sense from a human standpoint, then the GB and Elders are actually saying to go against GOD's WORD, even though it makes no sense from a human standpoint. Don't you SEE??? God's "channel" is asking you to go against what God has said.

    So, two choices are available:

#1) The SLAVE is wrong again, and it is okay to tithe and solicit for specific amounts at particular times, just like "Christendom", which makes the " Doing Jehovah's will" brochure old light. This means that the SLAVE was wrong again, for decades, about another scriptural topic.

Or #2) The SLAVE'S previous interpretation prohibiting solicitation in any form is correct, but they don't give a shit and expect you to disobey GOD's word when they say so. The "channel" does not really have faith that God will provide what his "true worshippers" need.

Either way, any JW who can't see the hypocrisy involved is:

#1) a complete watchtard, and needs to re-take basic English to learn how to read and comprehend sentences. SQ3R method, anyone???

#2) a complete watchtard who blindly obeys men and is willing to disobey GOD if the Organization says so. Ever hear of the "Golden Calf?"

LURKERS, WAKE UP!!! YOU ARE BEING DECIEVED BY BLIND LEADERS AT BEST, AND WILLFUL HYPOCRITES AT THE WORST. If you willfully disobey GOD out of a fear of man, than your claim to be a Christian is false. You have no business to call yourself a Christian, let alone a " true Christian." You have absolutely no right to judge any other human for any reason!! If you do, again, you are not a Christian, but a hypocrite.

Marked. Some hardcore JWs will pay anything for the dream of living forever and having instant friends. But, I think we're about to see some fallout from this change. The few JWs I know are not in any position to give alot of money every month.
