I loved Three's Company. It was entertainment that required absolutely zero thought. It did not challenge your intellect, just simple raw entertainment.
I am in the US but I have discovered some Canadian TV shows online. Artic Air is really good and set in the magnificent northern territories. Then there is SEED. I love it. A comedy. IMDB it. Walking Dead of course and assorted others.

You are absolutely correct, that's why even the commercials for that show left me with the thought of, Lord knows I'm no Rhodes Scholar, but I'll be damned if I lower my intellligence to that level to watch that nonsense.
