Do You Believe That Jehovah's Witnesses Should Be Outlawed As They Are In Some Countries?

People put JW's in the same category as any religion. That is simply not true and so shouldn't be viewed as such.

The religion or leadership of the religion lies, uses deception, then brainwashes it's followers so they lose themselves and unable to make decisions for themselves.

JW's put a public face that they only study the bible, no human is their leader, they are united in thought because they have the truth, and everybody is free to live their lives how they so choose and it's a worldwide brotherhood of like minded people. People aren't forced into anything and free to come and go as they choose. If that was the case, nobody would have a problem with it.

Instead, they pretend it's that, then once a person is inside they are brainwashed into not doing higher education, cutting off relationships with all nonmembers, not saving or planning for the future, and shunning or being shunned if they leave or somebody they care about leaves, etc. Those practices SHOULD be banned.

It's not so much ban the religion but ban the practices that violate human rights and are deceptive since they are a religion that actively seeks out members instead of having them come to them.

Londo111 - "Banning is a bad idea and counterproductive."

    Ditto.

    Prohibition never works.

These comments are pretty much common sense.

Then it will probably never happen.

I think that a Nations Government has an obligation to protect its society.

That would include making certain that wholesome family units have a place to live and thrive.

The WTBTS has a proven track record of completely shattering hundreds of thousands of once wholesome family units, so yes, to protect society the WTBTS should be banned.

For proof just google this: "family destroyed by Jehovah's Witnesses":

About 600,000 results (0.38 seconds) and thats a google search in the English Language only!

    Matthew 7:15-20

"Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].

You have the right to be an idiot. However, you do not have the right to scam others, often under threat of destruction and damnation, to be idiots. And this goes for the whole Christi-SCAM-ity, which is guilty of destroying whole cultures for that fictitious nazarene Jesus. (And in the name of that equally fictitious concept of original sin.) Going from door to door takes it to the next level--not only scamming them, but actively seeking victims and hounding them by repeatedly calling on them.

It also takes it to the next level that they hound those who try and leave. And yes, they had better ban the jokehovians (due to their making their baptism equivalent to a legally binding contract). If they don't get banned, they are going to find one corrupt scumbag judge that is going to uphold this baptism as a signed, binding contract and start singling out people to force back into activity or force some to increase their activity above and beyond a reasonable level. And, with Saturn headed for Sagittarius, they had better act quickly with the ban card, or the jokehovians are going to play their own "legally binding contract" cards.

I agree with nicolaou. Their harmful practices should be legislated against but not the religion itself.

As an American, I want to believe in Freedom.

But I believe all religion should pay taxes.

The thing about paying taxes is the most powerful, those with the most money always find a way not to pay taxes

    and to get exemptions.

Maybe we need to get rid of income tax and just have a strait tax of some percentage on all transactions.

    With no loopholes or exemptions.

That way the poor and the rich can both participate and not leave the burden on the middle class.

This is the USA we don't ban religions.... we just mock them.... ok we mock them but we dont show cartoons of mouhammed. That is just crazy talk!

In this day of information the last thing you want to do is ban a religion. The small majority of idiots (and former idiots such as myself) will join but the vast majority of people will either refrain from joining or join a religion and do whatever the hell they want to do. Banning something restricts freedom (even the right to join a fucked up religion) and that should be done as little as possible.

I think that any organization that is a danger and does much harm needs to be scrutinised, and thought given as to how to limit the dangers it presents.

Outright banning seems Draconian, but inaction due to lack of knowledge about them and their works seems to my mind to be irresponsible.
