Hi,
They try like heck to follow the bible...even though they go too far, because in reality they are afraid of God. That's why they don't celebrate anything, to them it's better to be safe than sorry....so they don't do many things out of fear. Many times they say certain things have pagan origins, but so do the days of the week. They add more burdens to a person than God/Jesus does.
I'm a JW, because, I like sharing the bible with those who have lost hope. To draw away from themselves & to know that they are worthy to come to God, whether it be being a witness or just believing in GOD. Many put their trust in material things, & we all can attest that fame & fortune can't keep you alive. Some folks feel so guilty for their past & what they are doing at the present. To let them know, someone does love them. Of course, it's an invisible force, but it does bring one comfort & peace. I think many get all caught up in the rules of the bible, instead of the love. God knows we can't keep the rules, that's why the OT is the OT & the NT is God's love letter to us. Folks have to believe in something, tooth fairy, Santa Claus, etc, why not God ? So again, I just like sharing what the bible teaches. I can't change them but God can, if they want to change.
I think the main reason JW's are JW's is that it's supposed to be God's org. That's their badge of honor..it's not that it's the truth so much but that most of them have an elite's attitude, so they fit being a witness. Me I'm humble, because one day they may find out that it's not his org. then what. Would many stay if it wasn't God's org...I would, because that's not why I'm there...
