(Daniel 9:24-27) 24 “There are seventy weeks that have been determined upon your people and upon your holy city, in order to terminate the transgression, and to finish off sin, and to make atonement for error, and to bring in righteousness for times indefinite, and to imprint a seal upon vision and prophet, and to anoint the Holy of Holies. 25 And you should know and have the insight [that] from the going forth of [the] word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem until Mes·si′ah [the] Leader, there will be seven weeks, also sixty-two weeks. And its end will be by the flood. 26 And after seven and seventy and sixty-two weeks, an anointing will be removed and will not be. And a king of nations will demolish the city and the sanctuary along with the anointed one, and his consummation will come with wrath even until the time of consummation. He will be attacked through war.
27 And the covenant will prevail for many, and it will return again and be rebuilt broad and long. Villagegirl,
Daniel 9 has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. This idea was invented some 200 years after his life and death. That is one reason there is no reference in the NT to the "times" mentioned in Daniel 9.
When the word "Christ" is used, it simply means "anointed one", which is drawn from the anointing by oil of the priestly candidate. Unfortunately, Paul used the term almost as a personal name, but "Jesus Christ" literally means "Jesus/Yeshua/Joshua the anointed".
