They are more focussed on the EVENT or ACTIVITY, rather than the substance of the information presented

Have you noticed how the Org, and individuals are MORE concerned about the ACTUAL event such as the international conventions, rather than the CONTENT of the program?

I often shake my figurative head (ok, literal one too!), as I see the all the hype being generated by the ACT OF ATTENDING, and think that most are not actually interested in the stuff that will be presented, but are more concerned about simply being there or getting there....

And, they are more focussed on the ACTIVITY of a campaign, such as a tract work, or invitation hand out, rather than the ACTUAL CONTENT of the material.

It shows that the average witness is in it not because of the "truth" of teachings, but more because of the social aspect....

Yep. It was always a big social event and pageant for me. The talks were always boring and degrading.

the fuss and bother of getting there. By some.

    "what are we to wear..(!)"

It will be wonderful because everyone says it will be.

Talks. far too long. point made and then gone over and over... . . and over.

any baptisms done requiring yet another talk.

final talk "Keynote adress" then followed by yet another talk so bad organisation.

final prayer done as a 'summing-up' of the program.

and (pet hate) perfectly able bodied jw sitting in 'invalid only' seating.

It's all a circus to keep them busy. How else did they hold us in for so long? By not giving us a second to sit and think.

International Assemblies or just the same as regular District Assemblies, the only difference being the volume of people attending.

The WTS. still pours out the brainwashing bullshit that the people slurp up. What a provision by Jehovah.

... and yes it becomes a bit of a fashion show that dubbies get prepared for.

This became apparent to me when I got used in several dramas.

Rehearsing them for months before the actual convention meant you knew the material inside out and could recite it in your sleep.

But when I asked people what they thought the point of the drama was they would reply they did'nt know, they only payed attention to see who was in it.

I was shocked to discover that after all the work that goes into conventions most people did'nt care about the points only, the "whose who" of it all.

What can I say, I very naive.

and the rehearsing for the post-Armageddon days: the no holds - barred rush for the best seats, sites. when gates open at 8am.

Yes, even the dvd sent out to all congs in australia was a pure 'hype up' to get everyone to go to Melbourne....because "so much effort has gone into the planning and arranging" etc...

BUT hardly a word about the supposed actual reason...you know..."to be taught by god"...

Gosh so glad I don't have to go to Melbourne for the assembly! Not that I don't like Melbourne but in summer at peak season, dragging my carcass around in meeting clothes...drag. all the sisters are just excited to have an excuse to shop in Australia's fashion capital.

Well let's be honest. The content of the a$$embĀ£ies was non existant. Same old regurgitated guilt trips and 'mind cleansing(tm)' propaganda.

It was nice to meet old conditional only friends and see if there were any decent birds there....then again some were stuck up bOrgies.

Otherwise a waste of a weekend. I wasted many.
