Accusing Ex-JWs of Behaving Like JWs Should be Taboo

I am specifically talking about JWN and discussions between mostly evangelistic Christians and atheists - FHN

As I said this is a religious discussion forum full of opposing beliefs. Some people on both sides will get childish and insulting - see VG's posts above ^^^^^^^

What has that got to do with a "JW mindset"? Childish people will insult others when they are faced with opposing arguments they can't answer. That is how many people are. It has nothing to do with having been in a cult.

This thread has nothing at all to do with believers v atheists. I am not in an atheist club or alliance.

I imagine some of the thought training would be extremely difficult to completely change in a person - nonjwspouse

In my experience the authentic personality of the individual soon shows up when they are free from the peer pressure.

Losingit - I hope you feel better for your rant but what has it got to do with the thread? Just for the record I do tend to attack bad ideas without compromise. I don't attack people. When people's treasured beliefs are attacked with evidence they tend to take it personally. Pity.

I want to address your comments and Abba's but I'm watching the World Cup right now. England are in trouble.

Excultists generally have a mindset too, at least for a while, in many cases. Just because one is no longer a JW, it doesn't mean that their way of thinking or deducing something isn't the same. Cof, you act like a JW still, when you sound like you think your views are superior to others. The title of your thread smacks of JWish judgments.

What it has to do with cultist jw behavior is this: It's the way JWs go about pushing their beliefs on others, not just discussing their beliefs. The feel the need to constantly try to persuade and to coerce others to their belief. They are convinced they are right. They think they have the truth. The push that assertion on anyone in their path. If someone brings up a point they can spring off of, they jump on it. They are driven to convince everyone to join their cult, to believe the way they do. They make fun of people who do not give it up and allow themselves to be sucked in. They never let it rest. They are invasive with their evangelizing.

little red dot - That's exactly the sort of lazy, arrogant and judgemental attitude that I am challenging

    Thanks for illustrating my point.

It wasn't a rant cofty -- I thought it was interesting that you were asking ppl to refrain from expressing themselves a certain way when you yourself can be so abrasive as to turn off other forum members from even reading a thread. Im not the only one who has pointed this out to you in the thread. My 'rant' was an example of one such person who cannot stand the attacks back and forth vetween believers and nonbelievers, namely, me. Maybe it's not addressing the specific detailed topic at hand but it does address where these 'attacks' tend to take place on this forum, threads between believers and nonbelievers.

FHN - You seem to keep ignoring the point that this is a religious discussion forum. Outside here I doubt if any of us ever discuss matters of faith with anybody.

How exactly does debating religion exclusively on a religious forum make somebody JW-like?

Losingit expresses what Cofty has done in his first sentence on this page. Who the hell is anybody to tell us that one should never say that accusing someone of behaving like a JW should be taboo? You're not my leader, Brother Cofty.

What is lazy about what he said? What is judgmental about what he said? What is arrogant about it? Take the time to look at what he said and ponder it. Don't dismiss him because he does not agree with you.
