There's no reason to believe that there is any special significance at all to the 'gospel' stories about Jesus, all written decades after the alleged events, containing a hodge-podge of unoriginal stories re-attributed to Jesus.

Aside from that, there is no reason to re-interpret the use of "generation" attributed to Jesus as anything other than the usual use of the word.

Any attempt to apply anything at all from the 'gospels' to 1914 is entirely baseless. Although it is amusing watching the Watch Tower Society re-hash their ridiculous superstitions.

(And it's mildly disturbing that the lives of dead JWs are represented by a brown smear.)

I disagree, Jeffro. It's surprisingly honest of the Watchtower to admit that they treat their existing members - especially the older ones who can't go door-to-door any more and who mightn't even have bequested the WTS all their wordly goods - just like SH!T.

    They aren't usually this honest.

The faithful and discreet slave were either the holy spirt, the apostles or jesus christ

NO the faithful slave is anyone who uses their

resources or talents wisely. People on this site

are so indoctrinated by this strange and false doctrine,

it keeps coming up again and again. You still believe

"they" have the "truth" They do not. They are false prophets

teaching false doctrines and this is a core false doctrine.

"anointed" = false doctrine "slave" =false doctrine

This the parable of the Talents:

There are THREE servants given money,

(symbolic) TWO (not one) are faithful and industrous

and use what is given them.

This has nothing to do with "the anointed" since every

believer and follower of Christ according to the Bible

is anointed with Holy Spirit and a member of the Body of Christ.

    So two doctrines are false.

One: All Christians are anointed by belief in Jesus Christ

Two: "the faithful slaves and their talents" was about any

    believer given resources and responsibilty.

Its about how WE use our own gifts and lives.

And according to the WT interpretation there

would have to be two governing bodies,

    because two slaves were faithful.

Why do you keep going back to this doctrine

and trying to figure it out ?

Its a twisted Watchtower explanation having

nothing to do with centralized authority or a

special "class" or special "slave" who rules.

And please stop using "anointed" like it is

    only available to the "select".

There is no scriptural support for that idea anywhere.

The other sheep are the Gentiles, the little flock, the Jews.

-Matthew 21: 1515 And to one he gave five talents,

and to another two, and to another one,

to each one according to his own ability,

Whoa, wait, this is too freakin' funny. And sad at the same time. So now "this generation" really means two generations?? Um, so why wasn't that spelled out in the TRUTH book I studied so dilligently back in 1970? Why was that NEVER, EVER, NOT ONCE mentioned in any talk, book, magazine? Oh - I forgot. New Light. Tacking into the wind. And all the other totally lame, bullsh!t excuses. Right.

This makes no freakin' sense at all - not theologically, historically, or grammatically. None. But when has that ever stopped Big Brother from rewriting the facts?

Thanks much to Focus for reprinting the new, improved chart and text that exposes the continuing LIE that this hateful, wicked cult has anything at all to do with Truth! I've known that for 37 years now, but it's nice to be reminded so graphically.

I asked my mother (still a dub after 40 years in her 70's now) how she understands the 'generation' teaching... she rolled her eyes and said "I'm not sure, I'll have to check and get back to you". She never did... I think many just do not care or really notice anymore.

IMHO for many dubs KnewLite is a mental\spiritual version of change blindness... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Change_blindness

    No, yes and yes, respectively.

    It is absolutely NOT funny.

Think of all the old people who had based, for whatever exact reason, their hopes and expectations around the original prophesies, where every change but one extended the length of this mythical "generation".

The fear, even terror, of dying is, for many, very real.

(Maybe I will have this fear too, one day; so far, I've viewed death as merely one of those certainties it is absurd to worry about. I think it improbable my mind could change, but I'm too young to say for absolutely certain).

So, now, consider the enormous disappointment for those poor, often old, dupes, subject to the old dogmatic preachings of the Watchtower Sicksiety, that they would never taste death.

    Awful disappointment leading to terror...

    So, not funny AT ALL.

Solely for your lack of apparent lack of appreciation of the awful impact of these series of letdowns (which I knew were bound to happen, though I agree the most recent modifications have been the most outrageous) - I know from our other interactions your heart and motives are good - I reluctantly deliver a:

    WHACK!

The JW beliefs change so much and have become so complicated that I am sure many do not really understand enough to explain it. They would probably have to be corrected if told to explain it by the elders. Amazing that you cannot understand it or explain it, but if you disagree with it you are an apostate and can lose your family over it.

Village Girl, why are these bible & wt writings discussed here?

not because there is any basis to them, but because they have to be shown what they are, myth,

it has to be shown to be so

    from their internal, illogical assertions.

These points can be argued by those that do know now that the whole premise is made up.

Discussing them does not mean indorsing them.
