I knew that, i'm just pointing out the large amount of "false" scripture thats been in their bible from day 1 and has been denied by scholars for years.

I see, sorry for misunderstanding. Yes, you have a good point; the Society is not on the cutting edge of any scholarship and has no original insights (which are actually correct and based on evidence).

I always appreciate these deeply knowledgeable threads ....so many students on this site!

However, what does it all matter?? They don't even follow the Golden Rule.........they don't obey the Bible, for examples Psalms 146:3.....

....so in the end, what does it matter what translation they read from? They only follow men.

Yes, that's true. The translation from their Bible to their beliefs is far less accurate than the translation from the ancient manuscripts to their Bible.

I mainly participate in threads like this because language is a passion of mine, and I will defend the grammar of the Devil himself if it's correct

However, I also care about elevating the level of arguments that people make against the Society. Rather than making broad allegations that one can't back up, such as claiming that the whole JW Bible is not well translated, much better to either (a) give specific ways in which its translation falls short when it is relevant to some discussion at hand (which takes a lot of real learning, unlike making a blanket dismissal of the whole NWT), or (b) not dispute the NWT's text, but rather focus on the ways it is being misinterpreted by men, as you indicated.

I think there are a few reasons you don't see the NWT talked about on a level with other translations, and why it's not on sites like BibleHub . com:

The main reason: copyright protection. That's what it boils down to. There are a few Bible translations out there with tight copyright controls, but few, if any, are tighter than the NWT.

Well, yes, I was thinking of including that in point 1. The Society would not stoop to letting their Bible associate with all those other riff-raff translations, just as they wouldn't stoop to attending a Bible translators' conference.

Here are a couple of good videos to watch on this subject.

Have you bible versions ready and pause and compare as you watch.

The NWT is just another Westcott & Hort New World Order Bible, as is NIV & ESV & Douay-Rhiems.

Walter Veith - 2 parts. It is good to watch both and have your NWT at the ready to cross check...

    Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNv-zzpIwBs

    Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqBEuxGY7DI

New World Order Bible Versions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFtI_mVOXbQ

For many JW's this is shocking info.

I hope all of you watch all three, it is worth it.

The WTBTS would not want their bible mentions with others because it would be ripped to shreds by most readers. Seriously. Sure some translations seem to support the trinity and some arent so clear. But guess what? Neither are the oldest manuscripts or writings of the Church Fathers.

Whats worse, leaving something that existed ( the mysterious and ever argued about nature of GOD) or BLATANTLY twisting the scriptures to support ideas not even mentioned in the bible??

Perhaps the knowledge of the WTBTS's past and lies makes me judge them harshly? I just don't see most other Xian denominations putting on a show to save face or practicing revisionist history. At least other Xian faiths say " We don't know", and actually mean it! The WTBTS is just so two-faced and afraid to admit that they really don't have the answers.

What is it?? Fear, corruption, hubris, a combo?? They are just really different from other modern day Xian sects, and not in a good way. I REALLY love many of the people, but the ORG and the legalism....blechhh...barf.

Does the new translation still have that very unique translation "Jehovah himself gives the saying; The women telling the good news are a large army." ?

I never saw how this could be translated this way. It seemed to be swept under the rug later but when the pioneer sister came to study with me, well, she seemed to love this verse. It is Psalm 68:11.

Anyone know anything about this verse?

What's odd about the translation? Anyway, the new NWT has:

Jehovah gives the command; The women proclaiming the good news are a large army.

  • Bobcat
    Bobcat

Jehovah gives the command; The women proclaiming the good news are a large army.

Here is how other translations render it. The MT uses a feminine plural participle (ham-ḇaś-śə-rō-wṯ,; "those who published"). This is why numerous renderings include "women." (Compare Ps 68:25; Exod 15:20-21; Jdg 5; 11:34; 1Sa 18:6, 7)
