Thanks for reposting I never knew about this so I will post on our site. I deal with peodophilia and cases of abuse with adult victims and this just one more reason why fear and intimidation has to be addressed. I will use this in a custody case hearing of how the child will be raised in an environ of fear. Her mother is lesbian and was DF'd so her JW parents and my son are trying to take her child so she will survive armageddon. The mother was molested and was afraid to tell parents she was gay. Hope this helps me explain to judge what being raised under my strict JW son and wife will do to this child possibly. She is only eight now but my son says he is willing to die for the governingbody, so you see why I need all the ammo I can to help the mother.

I don't agree with trying to pin this on the religion. As I said in a previous thread, mental people are mental, no matter what their background is.

As much as I believe the JW to be in a cult, the parents not crying could also be a result of shock. They may be unable to even process this horrfic event.

I wonder if they will eventually wake up, or this cements their indoctrination because to break free would result in too much guilt to live with?

This story is so tragic.

I do hope lots of non jw people read the part about shunning and pay real attention to it.

Apog, in my outside looking in observation true mental people are just mental, but the borg gives a feeding ground for them to grow. The borg attracts them with an instant social network and possible social status they may never have otherwise.

I guess the main point I want to make is that it's the job of her lawyer to find some way to lighten her sentence since there's no question that she did it. How else would he do this, but by trying to play up the factor of the religion? Lawyers always do this; they work with their clients to find the right angle to generate a sob story. "You ran because you were afraid you were going to get framed like you did once before, right?" "You punched the cop because he reminded you of your father who used to beat you, right?" Etc. So let's not just take the side of the defending lawyer here just because it gives us another thing to blame the religion for.

Such a sad story. It's a shame that a 19 yr old can be so scared and mixed up during pregnancy that at the time of the birth all she can think to do is murder the infant. The fact that she felt she had no one to turn to and was so isolated is incredibly sad, so very sad.

I understand where Apogs is comming from, but isloation caused most of the problems IMO, there were no reports of her being diagnosed with depression or any other mental health problem.

She felt alone and killed her baby, terrible.
