    Yadda,

    I have missed loads of threads, and I come on quite regularly. It's no big deal that there are 3 threads I missed the other two, so I am glad. I have just done a search and couldn't find any of the threads.

    ATLANTIS- Thanks for posting this news article. Good gawd. If this doesn't show how damaging WT mind control is I don't know WHAT does ! Disgusting. How sad that this young lady had such fear and guilt within her that it led her to kill her own child due to fear of repercussions from JW relatives and/or elders. WT Society GB and WT leaders should be brought up on charges of criminal negligence which causes it's JW members to commit acts of crime like this.

    The whole sordid wheel of JW's losing their natural human empathy or compassion can be pinned on how the WT Society trains and teaches JW's to value pleasing an organization's twisted values over having natural human emotions for even your own children or babies. This young lady is carrying on a chain of emotional abuse she has suffered from being raised by JW parents who were taught to curb and eliminate THEIR OWN natural compassion and emotions for their daughter ! In the courtroom it was very telling that the JW parents " are the only ones not crying " . And for what reason were they NOT crying ? Due to WT Society abusive mind control and being captives to a sick, twisted concept of losing natural affection, compassion, or empathy which WT Society teachings STEAL away from most all of their JW members ! Then the parents pass down that twisted thinking to their daughter who in turn lacks empathy for her newborn child by murdering her. Sick disgusting situation.

    As Steve Hassan stated in his books Jehovah's Witnesses and other mind controlled cult members ARE suffering from a psychological disorder called " dissociative disorder " whereby they can turn off ANY normal human emotions and callously shun, spit on, or even KILL in this instance another human , even a baby and try to justify it. It's the ultimate , severe effect of mind control. I have a small amount of empathy for this 19 yr.old mother ( if you can call her that ) - but if you notice her comments she does the circular reasoning of justifying herself then at the end she says it's " no excuse for what she did " after she just made excuses for what she did. Her words, " I was in a really bad situation . I was alone and scared. I didn't thnk anything was going to happen, so I panicked . I know that's not an excuse for what happened. " Sigh. You think ?

    The WT Society produces JW's as human beings who are sociopathic at best , narcissistic at worst and a people who make excuses and shift blame onto others while being unwilling to accept responsibility for even crimes they commit ! Kinda reminds you of the leaders and legal team of the WT Society and JW cult doesn't it ? As I saidWT Society is responsible for creating these kind of human monsters- yet each person is responsible for breaking free of the ingrained WT Society abuse to their emotions. How very sad that a baby is dead and this young lady had to learn this the hard way

    @Flipper or anyone else,

    So my question why isn't this a headline for all to see...why is it only contained for discussion on this site..now there is JW TV, & this didn't make it. The friends will hear this via grapevine, & then will not speak about it or just say, she was wrong in the first place to have a baby without a hubby. The statement that should get everyone's attention is that she feared being shunned....wasn't she DF'd already, don't they DF those who have children without husbands. Shunning is dangerous to the extent of murder...that's heavy...how did she know to shift the blame, simple, she had an example from the bible where Adam shift the blame to God & Eve for him eating of the true....

    Again, don't know why this didn't make the major papers...NYC...everyone all over the world reads NYC newspapers...Headlines should read...rather doesn't even have to be on the front, just in the major papers....it should read....JW SISTER KILLS CHILD BECAUSE SHE WAS AFRAID OF BEING SHUNNED BY THE CONGREGATION...maybe folks won't say nothing but it will plant a seed & many others may just come out, just like in child abuses in the ORG...

    As long as these stories are in these other papers that most folks don't read, the friends will still be in the dark.

    No, what they will say is that this entire story was fabricated by apostates and not a word of it is true.

    APOGNOPHOS - If you think we are being too " harsh " in blaming the WT Society or JW cult for the actions of the parents not crying at the court trial or the daughter making excuses for her murdering her baby- then ask yourself this : What's normal about JW's sitting at funerals or memorial services of someone who has just died and not shedding a tear ? Even being " happy " that this person may be " resurrected " to life again ? The answer : NOTHING is normal about it. These people are TRAINED to be unsympathetic, trained to have no real human empathy - trained that way from an organization ( WT Society ) whose leaders have NO real empathy for the 7 million JW's they claim to direct. We are talking about people who will shun their children or family for life so they can have a chance to live " forever " in a fictional " paradise earth " . Talk about twisted- THAT is pretty twisted

    Apog: So let's not just take the side of the defending lawyer here just because it gives us another thing to blame the religion for.

    The hypocrisy is that it doesn't go the other way. When a JW does something good, like returning a large amount of cash that's been lost, JWs invariably use that as evidence that the person did this because they are a JW- the WT made them a better person.

    When something bad happens, like this case, the default argument is always, 'well, people do bad things, you can't blame the religion'.

    To a degree I see your point, Apog, but I also don't think it can be reasonably argued that the religion didn't at least contribute (probably to a large extent) in the decision she made.

    So really, is her attorney that far off in using this argument as a defense???

    Killing her newborn- mental problem

    not making a peep while in labor- complete fear of the elder and parents

    Its just a horrible story and it completely shows how screwed up this religion is. Her parents sitting in court hearing every detail and not shedding a tear for their daughter or the grandchild that's now dead speaks volumes!!

    I don't agree with trying to pin this on the religion. As I said in a previous thread, mental people are mental, no matter what their background is.

    Thank you for trying to bring balance to the discussion. Our prisons are filled with people who grew up around poverty, violence and abuse. Those are contributing factors to the choices they've made in life, as well. But they don't get a free pass because of it. They aren't absolved of personal accountability.

    Let's keep a little perspective, people. There should be something inherent and instinctive in us, which supercedes WT dogma, that makes certain actions unfathomable. Any person who would beat a newborn child to death has psychological issues that run far deeper than the WT. That is what this woman did- beat her own newborn child to death.

    Some of the responses on this thread border on pathetic.

    This is the first I have heard of this story, too.

    It is pointed out that this young woman's parents sat there without tears. That says a lot about what life was like for this girl, growing up. And where did she learn to punch a child in the face?

    @keyser soze,

    So true, the problem is far deeper than being a JW. I was raised a certain way...as balanced as possible. One of the sisters said to me...that I'm odd, most of the friends had some odd backgrounds...but as you say that can be any place...I think what this thread is trying to get at is that the society makes one afraid of shunning so much, that they may kill..(which is extreme, & they also are forced to lie for field service #'s because they may not be doing enough, that's not the same as murder but it still comes under "Pressure). That's the point...how many in the society feel that way? That's the question, how many bad choices have been made because of the fear of being shunned. As you say, that can happen in or out of the org. How many stay in & swallow all the doctrine even if it's not true, just so they won't be shunned. I could go on...I know a few friends that see TTATT, but don't want to say anything, because of how they will be looked at. You can go to any place of worship and not agree, even say something, or not say something but they allow you the right to point out another way to see the scripture....So all that to say, this may open the flood gates to others who may be mental yet, feel the same pressures.

    My point is that this should be made public for others in the org. to see. I think I read on this site...shunning is like, emotional blackmail. No one should have to be afraid of a place of worship, that's where all go to feel safe. But you are correct as well. We all should be allowed to worship where we please but not under duress (spelling.):))). Many young folks have children & dispose of them...why because their parent(s) instilled fear in them...instead of re-inforcing that even though they may make make mistakes...THEY ARE LOVED...many feel if they make a mistake, their love ones won't love them anymore so they are forced to do what they think is best....we can tear down our children if need be, but also build them up with love. To let them know, no matter what they can come to you. Don't you think that the society should be the same way, it's ok to discipline but with Love, not with fear.
