purrpurr: OK so aparently there was this young girl ...

I've heard this bullshit story for years. There is absolutely no proof it is true.

Like so many WT/JW "stories" they are always 3rd+ hand. No one ever saw it first hand.

It's really not much different from stories that start, "Once upon a time ..."

What kind of father would mutilate his daughter like this? What kind of religion would tell a messed up story like this as if it proved anything good?

    Let's review: It's a cult!

blondie: I have heard of the meetings compared to the five fingers on our hand...which one can you do without.

In situations like this with the WTBTS, here's the one we all really need:

Well, even if it is true, I'm sure it's safe to say it didn't happen in the U.S.

Unless it happened in some off the grid small southern town or something

If I was her father I would have told her to just get a lobotomy and be done with it.

    This story is obviously BS.

I've heard so many of these stories, and that's what they are...stories. I really hate the the story in which the brother was on a boat with his son and a 'wordly' friend. Both boys fall overboard in a storm and the brother could only save one boy so he saved the friend because he knew his son would be resurrected. Years later the boy is grown and the two men are at a KH, the older one giving the talk and relating this tale. He points to a younger man in the audience and says this is the boy, who is now a CO. Everyone cries and cheers.

IMHO these stories are terrible and whomever relates them, just to get an emotional response, should be ashamed of themselves. Just tell the truth, is that so hard to do. The truth is always more interesting than fiction.

    Anyway, Take Care

so its better to have your father 'cut off your finger', [for a bunch of foolish beliefs] when you disobey him, and God, [who told us to obey our parents as long as we are under their roof and we are not being abused]

, than to simply cooporate respct your father, and read the bible on your own time and wait till you move from home then persue your own faith?

how does someone reason that this would be, faith strenghthening? its terrifying if you ask me. and gee the father got away with that, hmmm.

have my kids get their fingers cut off for going to church? Yea right. God wouldnt be so stupid.

I`d say its bullshit , though on the other hand ,

fathers do kill their daughters in honour killings

Mothers do mutilate their daughters in circumcision

Family members do stone other family members to death for misdemeanours

Oh sorry thats the other cult isnt it.
