Oh I'm quite sure a large number of JWs liked it.

The ones who are bullies, brain-dead, ex-Bethelites, uber-zealous nitwits ate it up like a redneck does a corn dog.

Certain friends just looked surprised & said....he is crazy....they couldn't believe what they were hearing...I enjoyed Bro. Herd....I kept saying...."Where is the Beef"...meaning...is this all there is....I thought it would be some type of new light...or something along those lines..but I guess with the new bible, the adjustments from the WT 7/15/2014, Jesus been in charge since 1914 & it's now one hundred years, and a few other adjustments. They must have thought, the friends have had a lot of changes....let's not overwhelm them too much. When the friends don't really say what's on their minds...the famous line is...."Great Reminders"....that's about all they can say...they really want to say...What the heck...but can't...I've only been in for a short time, but I'm picking up the lingo...safe lines to say....& they all say them...when we go to an assembly or whatever & it's anti-climatic.."It was great, good reminders, I got alot out of it (but they never say what)..although, there was alot of taking notes...of which none of them will ever look at again....

It was ok, but socks & spanx, we are not babysitters, etc...that could have been a WT study..Anyway, I think they are just testing the waters. Most of the friends said not too many folks get to go to Zone meetings...so we lowly ones felt special...me NOT...I feel special no matter what....God said I was...way before the GB's did...Nobody will say what they really felt...which was..." IS THIS WHAT YOU BROUGHT ME OUT TO SIT FOR 3 HOURS FOR, REALLY"? Trust me Lurkers, you know that's exactly what you thought but scared to voice it....same as with our jobs, go to some hyped up meeting & when you leave, you and your fellow workers say, Ah, what an insightful meeting, thrilling, learned so much, glad I went....when they get home...WHAT THE HECK WERE THEY TALKING ABOUT..

I suspect you are right Legacy.

NO one is going to admit that the meeting was a 3 hour bust.

After all, how would that sound?

So I asked my wife tonight what she thought of the zone meeting Saturday and she just said "brutal."

I pushed a little more (probably too much) and learned that she thinks that the brothers in bethel have a clearer view of what's wrong than we do because they're so isolated from the world. I didn't much know what to say to that since it's exactly opposite to the conclusion that seems obvious to me. I also learned that I'm "trying to find fault with everything."

My fairly strait laced Jdub girlfriend told me on Sunday at a get together, sisters were gathered together making fun of the zone visit. About 20 sisters ages 21-40. She said on Instagram, #jwhumor, are hilarious things poking fun. Then someone wrote that making fun of the GB is insulting the GB and Jehovah, gives apostates ammunition, and they're was a reason we weren't to record etc.

She thinks, with others in this age group, it's bogus but of course 'the truth'

If I remember correctly, the only scripture offered regarding dress/grooming was 1 Timothy 2:9, which is wildly generic and obviously doesn't indicate hard-and-fast rules like he was throwing out.

He began the talk saying he was going to back it up with scripture. That is why I wondered exactly what scripture!

Liars gonna lie.

He also began by saying he'd back things up with quotes from the publications so if you have a problem with it, take it up with God. So, the publications are therefore the word of god and on equal footing with the bible. Actually, they're more important than the bible - the bible is filled with "old light."

My youngest daughter thought the meeting was 'fun.' She said the advice on clothing was needed. I thought it was ordinary nonsense from someone who never got over being a domineering circuit overseer.
