They form a judicial committee against the transgressor and in order to protect the congregation, they are disfellowshipped.Detective: Disfellowshipped? They don't get moved to another church?
Matrix: No, of course not, if they are disfellowshipped, no Witness will talk or have contact with that person.Detective: Well good, that takes care of it inside the church, but what about outside the church? If you disfellowship someone because your organization knows they are a molester, why don't they do something to protect children OUTSIDE their organization? It seems like you are only interested in protecting your own, but have no concern for those outside your church. Where is the concern for children in general? Where do the authorities come in?

For example in our state, it is law that these crimes be notified to the appropriate authorities, be it the police or child protective services.Detective: So what you are saying is that if the state does not require you notifying the police, then you won't. Even if your church finds a person guilty and disfellowships them for pedophilia. You still won't tell unless you have to? Do you think, "hey, we kicked them out, that's good enough?" Do you just heave a sigh of relief knowing you let a known predator roam free because your church momentarily spanked them? It's okay because it's not your problem anymore, just your neighbors problem now? And I'm supposed to believe you have high moral standards?
Matrix: I agree that state law should be changed to agree with those states that require such notification to the authorities. But see, the Witnesses are not breaking the law, they are following it. They balance Jehovah's law in the Bible and human law. But I encourage you to contact your state representative to encourage them to come up with legislation that would make it mandatory in your state for all child abusers to be turned into the authorities.Detective: So, essentially, you will only do the minimum required of you by law? But you'll try to make sure no witnesses are pedophilia victims? And to hell with the rest of us, right? You'll dump your trash on my doorstep so you won't have to deal with it anymore? And what of this legal reform you seem to be promoting? Have you contacted you local rep? will you write your legislative representative in support of putting such laws in place? Oh wait, you don't do that, do you? Will you vote for reform on this matter? Do you actually think people are so stupid that they can't see your impotent, half-assed excuses? You really should apply for JR Brown's position!!
The issue is not whether state laws require elders to support child molesters, the issue is the immorality of NOT reporting child molestors. Using the individual state law to sidestep the true issue is an excellent example of what is known as a "red herring." Very common tactic used by those that have no real support for their argument. Throw somebody off the true issue by dragging another issue into the picture.
Please provide another post dealing with your response to the true issues, eg. "mouths of two witnesses" and the morality of reporting pedophiles to authorities and those in the congregation.
ps--what is a Witness doing referencing a "R" rated movie as their name? Do I need to bring out the WT CD-ROM?
In the book of "good salesmanship" we are told to take a negative and make it a positive. Even if, on it's face it's a factual negative, magazines can be sold. You have given us a nice demonstration of how it is done. Perhaps you will be asked to have a nice part at the next circuit assembly.
