Last night in a Dub chat room on MSN, I was told that one of the person's interviewed was wearing a pony-tail?

Okay, gang...what have I missed after being with you guys for several months? Are pony-tails another JW 'no no' that I didn't know about?

After the trial, Erica thanked "God" and "the Lord".

No way could she please the JW's, since she's not a witness anymore.

(1) If Erica didn't thank God, JW's would have said she trusted in herself and perhaps Bill Bowen, and probably is an atheist.

(2) If Erica referred to God by the use of titles, then she is evil because she didn't use the proper English-language transliteration of the divine name.

(3) If Erica would have said "thank Jehovah", then the JW's would have derided her for insincerely using Jehovah's name since she isn't a JW any longer.

YOU CANNOT WIN FOR LOSING WITH THESE JW'S!!!! [>:(]

It was Erica's father (the ex-elder) who was wearing a pony tail. Pony tails and beards on guys are taboo for JW's (at least in America, not sure about elsewhere).

Comments I have read that "prove" this story on Dateline was totally fabricated were:
1. Barbara Anderson said that she was doing research at Bethel, and everyone knows that sisters are NEVER trusted with confidential information--therefore, the Dateline story is bogus.
2. Erica said "Thank God, thank the Lord", rather than "Thank Jehovah"--therefore, the Dateline story is bogus.
3. Erica's father now has a ponytail--therefore, the Dateline story is bogus.

Here is a rather lame one that I've heard:
The story aired on a worldly program (satan's domain). Therefore, the story is bogus.

Add this one to the list:
...in reference to the phone call Bill Bowen made (and this is a direct quote from a JW in another forum):

"No one there would have spoken the way that this person spoke (the person on the other end of the line), so freely without thought as to the seriousness of the matter. It could have been anyone on the other end of the line."

Your JW's sure taught us critical thinking, and did it well... Hard to lose it, even after leaving for the "greener pastures", but oh well.

Anyone else have a JW criticize Erica for wearing too much makeup, particularly too much eye liner?

This JW Idiot said Erica probably made up the whole abuse story.

Controlling myself, I reminded them that her abuser had been convicted TWICE.

Only response was that typical braindead "blank" look.

Talking with different JW, everytime I submitted a piece of background info, the same response came repeatedly:

"Did you get that off the internet?", with again that JW look that everything "off the internet" is unquestionably a lie.

Sometimes I believe that we should stop doig anything to help current JWs (and stick to preventing converts), BECAUSE MOST OF THESE STUPID SON-OF-A-BITCHS DESERVE TO WASTE THEIR LIVES AWAY IN A CULT!!!

As far as saying God or Lord well the bible refers to Jehovah as God and Lord so is the bible not to be belived?
I was cracking with the "sexual imporality" comment, I am not df'd and if they really knew me they would know it was my x-husband who had the year in half affair and is still a jw, no hard feelings though.
The cross scene in dateline was only a split second, so obviously there just looking for excuses. My dad has a pony-tail and a beard and we love it. We all seen the pics of my fam on dateline and of couse he didn't have one as an elder for all those years.
24 people found Manuel guilty and he is sitting in jail as a jw, that should say it all.
