    Valis,

You suffer from a lack of reading comprehension.

I better be nice or you'll threaten to leave again so perhaps be a bit more succinct next time.

I have never threatened to leave this Board ever.

Please prove your assertions, or should I say: Check before you wreck...lol

Hi Joe, it's very nice of you to ask. I am fine today. Its a beautiful day outside, the sun is shinning and I feel great. Hope you feel fine too!

Joe, yes please keep in touch. If those rats try to throw you out, we'll show 'em!

My donation to the cause is forming and running Sons of Liberty Riders, a national motorcycle group that purposely and loudly defends the constitution while trying to trim down the govt to a reasonable level. That means trying to get Environmental laws changed or removed, for one thing, and dropping all the govt agencies, for another.

Besides that, I talk to schools and businesses about driving a car or truck around motorcycles. My daughter took me as her show-and-tell item in kindygarden, and I go every year now. I like kids, lots.

I am also involved in Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA).

Could I use my "spare time" more wisely than reading judgemental ramblings on here? Maybe, maybe not.

    Valis,

This is not about charity, but I wanted to share some information regarding the Dallis Bob Marley festival. There were two singers there, Ras Shaggai, and See Far I who used the same back up group, The Unifires. Shaggai is my son-in-law. My daughter sings with the group but only at local functions. My daughter has a good Jamacan accent for a mindwestern white girl. My daughter and her husband both lived in St. Croix for awhile and that is where she acquired her accent, working at the local produce market, relating to the natives.

    ChuckD,

It is not reasonable to assume that time devoted to posting here is time that even COULD be spent elsewhere

I am not going to get involved in a senseless debate, but I would please ask that people read posts carefully before reacting to them. I made no such assertion in my post. My post revolved around the wasted time and energy involved in posting to threads that have little worth. These are the posts in their entirety that deal with your criticism of my attitude:

My only puzzlement is that I see so many highly intelligent, creative and imaginative young people on this Board, spending many hours involved in threads and exchanges that are imho rather facile, instead of funneling these creative energies into something that will be of some use to this on-line community. You know the type of thing, 'Can You Help Me With My Shattered Life' - 6 posts, 'Should A Girl Swallow Sperm' - 453 posts.
I am eternally frustrated with the what I see as wasted energy. I undertake work for ecological groups Blondie, who are starved of volunteer help, and are working long hours to bring some important changes to the planet. Occasionally, I rub shoulders with the overworked young people of the Peace Corps who have enthusiasm and courage and conscience, and who at a moments notice will travel to dangerous parts of the globe and risk their lives and health in refugee camps. Then I come here and see so much wasted talent, wasting talent.

Valis thread is a very good idea, so apart from expecting him to produce evidence that I 'threatened' to leave the Board at some stage, I will not hijack this thread.

Cool Larc...I try to hit several a year and I take pics for them and do other stuff around the festivities. Always a good time and great people. I don't really care for the guy who runs it, but I don't do it for him...

Hillary, you still miss the point. As it has been pointed out, what you consider wasted time here, may actually be time where someone takes out of their day to post here, sneaking in a post here and there, which doesn't mean they are wasting time. Making the number of posts here relative to how much time soemone has to do the really Good work" is a bit off . Something to think about. I still didn't like your comment and you can look at other posts, particularly the "I'm ashamed" thread where I am not the only one who has the impression you have spoken of leaving because of what has gone on here.. If that's not the case then I'll check before I wreck and I apollogize if I'm wrong on that. At least we can sass and not get like you know who....

    Sincerely,

    District overbeer

Now you have struck on something really worthwhile. Not to be blowing horns for ourselves, I think it is encouraging for regular posters and revealing to JW lurkers to see what we are doing. Lets dispel the appearance of being self-indulgent, voyeuristic, low life perverts that others would expect of us APOSTATES .

'More happiness in giving' and 'Love of neighbors' demonstrates the spirit of Christianity with no quotas, quilt or field service reports. I hope we get a lot of response to this thread.

    Valis,

Please do check, I await your investigations with interest.

With respect Valis, it is you who have entirely missed the point. I am discussing the value of time spent on certain posts that imho ( and I made that proviso ) might be better spent in other more creative and useful activities. To present this as an issue of time spent posting to this Board, as opposed to time spent posting on certain threads on this Board is a gross distortion and misrepresentation of the point I made.

Please read my posts with the same care that I have used in reading your own.

    You said:

"My post revolved around the wasted time and energy involved in posting to threads that have little worth."

I ask "define 'little worth'? Isnt that a relative term, worth being defined by the reader/poster? What may be worthless to me may be invaluble to someone else.

Yes Animal, in my posts if they were read carefully, you would see that I have noted from the start that this was just my opinion. It was Valis, who in his 'Check beofre you wreck comment', misread, misapplied and mistook the point of my post.

Please read my posts carefully Animal, if you have read them, read them again. Try to see what is actually being said as opposed to what one might assume is being said.

    Best regards - HS
