Who gives a damn what the rest of the world thinks of America? The important thing is what America thinks of the rest of the world. And it boils down to this: if you can't whip out some pretty impressive product, the best you can hope for is to be a territory. Statehood is a case of "them that's got shall get."

One thing I know is that we think we're untouchable. Even after 9/11 we think it's all kick ass and take names. We can act as egocentric as we want but sooner or later someone is going to start beating on us. As an American I'm very dissappointed in our foreign policies as most of them are hold overs from the cold war. The worste part is we fool ourselves (and try to fool the rest of the world) into thinking that our mid east policies have something to do with justice and the American way. Our attempt to homogenize the world is why so many countries hate us. Despite all of that, there are allot shittier places to live. We may not be perfect but there are some good people who live here. Our government may suck at times but I think there are people in office who actually care. Every country has problems unique to them it just depends on how you deal with them.

What a hilarious thread! The poster asked for NON-Americans to answer her question, but instead a dozen Americans have to reply and tell us all how wonderful America is!! lol....

    What I think of America?

Americans are loud, outspoken and excessively patriotic. They are ignorant of matters relating to the rest of the world (look at their lack of comprehension on why 9/11 happened). Mind you, ignorant DOES NOT mean dumb. It's just their culture that has produced this ignorance. They seem to think their country is the best in the world, even when many of them haven't even stepped out of their own state.

On the positive side, Americans are very generous and generally happy people. They don't complain about what they have, but seem to think the rest of the world should have what they have. It is a very diverse country, culturally as well as geographically.

And yes, I have been to America!

    A huge question.

Firstly, Americans dont have any idea who is running their country.

Secondly, nearly whole world is against USA and Israel.

And that is enough reason to start thinking what is going on.

And thirdly. When government has told the truth?

If compare one super power against another, looks bad.

USA against 300 mln against 1.1 billions.

China is catching up FAST with their technologies and is the biggest threat against USA . What I do admire with Chinese? They do not attacking anyone and no one wants to attack them. Of course the problem is in Taiwan and of course USA is messing there as well as in many other countries.

Just wonder why USA will not attack China instead of Iraq . China has many more weapons of mass destruction than Saddam can possibly imagine. They have even the space program, satellites and they are making now one of the best motherboard in the world.

They are the world power number one and USA government knows it.

Remember how nicely gov was dealing with when their spy plane was captured? It that would Saddam! OMG!!!! He would be history in few weeks.

Every American is furious when China

is mentioned. Just watch their reactions here!!! They really hate when someone is mentioning China .

But since you have asked so nicely... You have so nice and honest answer!

    Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

    Hi guys

I'm from Switzerland. On one hand, people admire Americans, their economie and military power. On the other hand, Americans have the image, to have no cultur and style. They tend to be superficial. I just can tell you, that president Bush is not popular here. I don't like him either. He scare many people with his patriotism. America is the best, the sample of freedom, the strongest army .......this kind of statements from the President make him arrogant.

On the other hand I'm glad to have America as a balance to the islamic world.

Having lived on several continents, this is what I have noticed:

Americans when visiting other places tend to bring certain 'baggage' ... certian attitudes.

Americans tend to think they are the only people in the world and everyone else should be glad they (Americans) exist.

Americans tend to wonder, when they finally travel outside the USA, why people don't have what they have. Unbelievably naiive.

Americans tend to think the laws of other countries are just like this one and are usually suprised when the Germans take their drivers license for six months due to speeding. Or that the penalty for DWI in Mexico is death.

Americans basically have absolutely no idea what goes on in the rest of the world. We usually also have no idea what US policies are toward the rest of the world...leaving us to wonder again why such and such country hates us....Hmmmm?

Americans living in foreign countries tend to treat the citizens as if beneath themselves. Americans bring their hatreds and biases with them, whever they go.

Americans don't realize that everyone else in the world wants the same thing they do...Freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But they don't necessarily want it in the American style.

Patriotizm has another name. Nationalizm. Personally I can't see the difference.

Both words are bad. We are... human species. Living here on Earth and in eyes of any one form Universe

we are... idiots. You have one life and any political leader is not worth to give him that most precious thing

we do have. Our life. No Shrub, Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam, Sharon or Howard is or was worth it. As they taught us lately. The most important person in the world is.... me!

I would like to see THEM giving US their life's and energies. Unfortunately it is mere a dream.

They are for us, not we are for them. And that's the democracy.

Unfortunately not many people do understand it.

Did any war in history change anything? Did we learn ANYTHING? I doubt and America and American are the classic example

wasted history. Americans and their Shrub Dubya wants WW III and New World Order. The whole world knows that. Hitler wanted the same. Stalin wanted the same.

IT IS INSANITY! And Americans are going to allow this. Like Germans did in Nazis era.

    And this is very sad.

I just think that the United States (not america 'cause I see america as my continent) is a country that have double moral standards what makes it very hypocrite. US people thinks that their way is the best way and just ignore that there is much more life in the rest of the world. US is a nation that is like Roman Empire but has nothing to do with that great empire, with culture or art. USA is just a powerful nation with money, just that and another think, is a nation where like you call them the DUBS have controlled the lives of 5 million people abroad, you like power too much but you're weak in your ideas, feelings and moral standars.
