Soooooo . . . you grabbed a wild woman, and been running from the law ever since!

Thoughts of the last shutout at the OK Corral came to mind when I read your comments of getting out of Dodge. In some ways that's a fitting metaphor to describe the final JW showdown. An elder summons you into the library with little warning. Stepping inside, you notice too late the ambush that's awaiting. With 3 or more guns aimed at your back, they ask the question: "Do you still believe this is God's Organization?" Answering honestly, they start shooting.

It gets quiet in Dodge when the ambush is over. Fear grips the Kingdom Hall as folks gather in small groups around the literature counter. The piano is not making a sound but one can hear whispered tones from small clusters gathered around. No one questions the assassins for fear they'll be next. The sheriff tells the piano player to "play it again, Brother Sam" as the elders sit down for another hand of Truth poker. They're holding all the cards; nobody's going to question their hand for a long time. The same old drinks are served to everyone in the hall as the piano plays the same tune over and over again . . .
