Actually that picture is clearly of Leslie Neilson (Naked Gun fame). Remember when he was hiding out in the middle east at the start of the movie infiltrating the meeting of all those terrorists?

    I read the article...

First, it is asserted that the 'royal priesthood' are the anointed. Fine... But how in the next paragraph can they make the leap to say that the elders are "representatives" for the the royal priesthood?!? How can a select, God-chosen group with a higher calling be represented by a group of men of whom the vast majority are not of the "anointed" nor are they appointed by God?

Pure nonsense - I am ashamed that I used to swallow this stuff.

    Paragraph 15 kills me...

Therein it says that had those Israelites done some reasoning, they would have looked at the track record of Moses and Aaron and recognized their authority. They were front in center in the escapades in Egypt etc and had done much to demonstrate some divine authority. Let's accept this line of reasoning...

With that thought in mind, what of the the rest of the article? Should the logical followup in the article not be to show that the WTS is God's earthly organization and that a logical examination of it's "track record" should identify it?!? Should there not be identification of momentous events and prophecy fulfillment that are pointed to that equate with the things Moses and Aaron do?

No, instead the reasoning is that "elders are imperfect, but they are pretty good guys and they preach the good news".

Huh? I never liked the poor writing that was done in alot of these articles. They often start out on one line of reasoning, and then they tack on some notion at the end that they want to drive home, without having any real connection to it earlier in the article.

Just found this thread today, thanks to all - hilarious reading , and so would the article be if it were not serious.

How come that elders are imperfect and we are sinners?

Seems to be beefing up control by the elders, ie; the Gov Body themselves. No doubt post NBC broadcast. I remember during the 80's when Ray Franz left and apostacy was the talk of the day, lots of article about unity and loyalty etc. .

As someone above said , they have a knack of starting an article about one thing ,,ie; same issue next article ... starts with Acts 2.11 "Speaking in tongues about the magnificent things of God." then flips into a quite nasty diatribe about the sloppy standards of dress today.. Youths must be on duty 24/7 and dress appropriately and fathers have to monitor with "Firm counsel"

I thought they had left all that behind in the 60's

LOL Monkey, remember how glad you were when the WT study had only 16 paragraphs?!?!?

Plm, first of all you're going to be df'd because you are only supposed to use YELLOW HIGHLIGHTER in your WT study.

You are defacing the HOLY WORD OF GOD.

I love the papyrus/scroll type look of the pages, lending a nice holy word of Gody type feel to the whole thing.

LOL @ Lisa! I do remember being VERY happy when there were only 16 paragraphs! Unfortunately the conductor always seemed to manage to drag that sucker out to the full hour tho. Also the 16 paragraphers always seemed to have an awful lot of those A B and C parts to em ;)
